Default Bose speaker fade... Help please

I was cruising around yesterday listening to my ipod connected to my stereo. I have stock bose speakers in my 04 touring (obviously). I keep my bass setting at 5 and i had the volume up at 25 with the bass booster eq audio setting on my ipod on. My sub randomly faded out.. No weird noises or anything, it just literally faded to nothing. Do you think it's blown? If so would it be my amp, sub, or both that I have to replace? Also, how hard would it be to fit a sub box into the stock sub compartment, a new amp, and wire everything up?

A loose piece as in...? I opened it up and checked all the wires and connections.. They appear to be fine from what I can see..

i remember reading in 350zmotoring forum that there is a grey or white box inside the amp that some how gets loose. if you fold a piece of paper that is about the same size as the little white box and put the paper on top of the box then put the amp cover back on..the paper will keep it from moving up an down... its supposed to work..google the prob an u might find some pics

A fade - likely the amplifier's power.

If it was an sudden on/off I would suspect the wire to the speaker or the signal from the headend to the amp.

Stock Bose or stock Clarion (do they even have a subwoofer?)

Petty common the the stock Bose system. I send most people to check the connections to the tiny amplifier located just to the center line from the subwoofer. It's a tiny little thing about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Even if the jack seems seated in the plug find the locking tab, release it and pull the plug off of the jack - repeat a few times and then test it out. Sometimes a bit of corrosion develops and exercising the jack and plug helps.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I'm going to go look right now.. I popped out the sub the other day to look at the connection.. The sub is connected fine but I couldn't find the connection to the amp (which I found up on the top of the compartment). I'll try and Google some stuff and keep you guys posted.

I checked everything today at a derby party because I was bored haha and ever connection looked fine from what I could see... I tried just about everything connection wise. I got the sub to finally turn on but it was very "crackly" sounding.. I think that it is blown but I don't understand how it blew because it wasn't up that much.. Does anyone know if it would be possible to buy a new sub and keep the stock amp? Or would I have to get a new sub AND amp to run the sub? And if so, how hard would it be to wire everything in the same stock sub box and would a kenwood sub fit in the original sub box with the stock lid on?
