Default Hard wiring interior neon (NOT RICE)

I'm building an amp rack in the glove box behind the drivers seat with a square cut-out in the cover with plexiglass over it. I plan on putting some neon in to give the compartment a nice glow. How would I go about wiring the neon tube to turn on when I turned on the car? I don't want to have to flip a switch everytime I get in the car to activate it. Thanks.

You could patch in a relay to the stereo remote turn-on wire or maybe the cig. lighter/power plug thing in the back. I would highly recommend that if you do this, you install a switch (between the lighter/turn-on wire and relay) as well so you can go incognito if you wish to.

I knew it was coming...

Anyways, the amp rack is going in the glove box behind the drivers seat, so it won't be visible unless I show it to people...

yup, grab a relay, you pass your current through it, and then a switch current is run, whenever this source is powered up, the relay completes the circuit and the light turns on.

in this case youd want your switch current to be ACC power, of which the cigerette lighter will do just fine. the relay pulls near 0 current from the cig lighter source, it just needs to have SOME current(for technical explanation, that current I beleive operates a small electromagnet, which then pulls the switch close completeing the larger circuit. which can get its power source from the battery or wherever else you want.
