Default Rockford Amp + Jackhammer Subs = BOOM?

Hey guys, lst thread Im going to make about this, promise. lol

I just had a question... Im going to pickup a 1200 Watt Rockford Fosgate amp from a guy on craigslist tomorrow for $80. (he said the model is possibly a 301 or a 401?) I figured its not a bad deal. But main question is...

Will this 2 channel amp be good enough to support my 2 10'' MTX Jackhammer subs (rated at 4 ohms each)? I just dont wanna waste my money...

You can bridge the RF 301 for 300W RMS @ 4ohms. Keep in mind RF always underrates their amps and on the older ones they could be closer to 500W RMS.

For those speakers you have to come to a decision if this is going to be enough power to make them thump... 500W RMS on the top-end (not max wattage... much different) or 300W RMS on the low end.

Imo you should buy a mono amp and wire those subs down to 1 ohm it makes a lot more sense. You would be maximizing the power and it will be more efficient. I wouldnt bother with that amp plus if you upgrade down the road you woudlnt have to buy another amp

get a mono amp, as Duro78 said.

I just picked up 2000w mono amp, for my 2 10" Alpine Type-R's, for a little over $100, new-in-box. The amp is rated at 1200w RMS at 2 ohms, which is what the subs are rated at.

Agreed, running subs with a class a/b amp is a waste of good current that can be used elsewhere in the overhead of your audio system. This is assuming the amp you are buying is the Punch 301S.
