Square VS Round
I was looking to a zenclosure but i havent decided on what type of sub(s) i should get maybe you can help me.
First I herd a square sub such as the Kicker L7 was better than a round sub
I wanted two 10in JL w3 but i kept hearing i would be overkill.
What other good subs are there in the market for a good price?
Does anybody have the alpine type r's or x?

Just make sure the sub you pick out will be ok in a sealed enclosure with the amount of airspace (under 1 cubic foot). Square vs Round really isn't an issue honestly... Kicker markets the square sub being better because it has more surface area... they do make a lot of noise but not the best from what I've heard for quality bass.

I had the JL 10w3 in a sealed enclosure and it was a good sounding sub for the price. I blew it and went with a Rockford Fosgate P3, which I am very pleased with (600w RMS for a 10") I personally wouldn't go with a Kicker sub but it all comes down to personal preference. Most subs in this price range will be about the same honestly...

what amp are you powering your stuff with?

Do you need an amp like that? No... just get a good class D mono amp that gives you 300-500 watts rms and you'll be fine.

I used to be a big fan of the S12L7 but for sound quality nothing beats a good round subwoofer in the right enclosure. Also, the L7 really only does well in a ported enclosure.
i have a kicker l7 in a zenclousers box and i love it
although it almost blows my hatch off the quality is great but not awesome i thing bass lines could sound better i lisent to electronic music and drum and bass, but for hip hop it impresses everyone that i show it too. so in other words its a great loud strong sub but it cannot do alot of smooth or complicated bass lines
