Default JL W3 or W6

Well, I have been considering a system for the Z for quite some time. I went to a local car audio shop, and got quoted $420 for a 10 inch JL W1, JL amp (forgot the exact name, but its around 150 RMS), wiring, box, and install. 150 RMS is not enough for me, so I went to craigslist to find a w3 or w6. Long story short, I found a w6, two w0's and a JL amp for $99 (subs are already in boxes). The reason they are so cheap is because they were in a car he bought used, and has no use for them. They are in good condition, and lest be honest, thats an incredible price. I know some members of the forums have the w6 in their z, and most have custom built sub boxes. Does anyone have any ideas on how to "mount" a 10 inch sub box down in the hatch of the z? Its a thin sealed box. In my old jeep, I had two L brackets bolted in the trunk to hold my 2 12'' because the trunk was not carpeted. Any options besides custom enclosures? I don't want my subs flying around in the trunk when I

Default w6

since you found such a deal.. why would you skimp on the box?

zenclosures on ebay ( i believe they have a website as well..you get to search) makes a 350z specific box that will fit a w6 for about 100 bucks.

W0s suck.. they are cool if you really arent a car person.
w6's are old school technology.. but are great speakers.

If you cant float the 100 bucks to get the right box, dealing w the L brackets into the plastic trunk floor liner will have to do for now for you. Dont screw it into the metal.. no point. You should plan to remove it and light it on fire asap ayways.

Also tc customs enclosures are nice when youre ready to step it up.. i run a f glass box from them in mine w 2 jl 10W7's .. its heavy as **** tho sadly. Like 100 lbs etc.

cmon tho man, whres the question here? Are L brackets on a big square box from some other car ok?

Nope.

Are you going to get the right box for your car? I hope so.

I'm just going to go with a custom enclosure. I was just looking to see if someone had a way to keep a sub box down without drilling ect.

zenclosures all the way...They are cheap and I get comments on it every time someone new sees it. They really do match and look like they belong in the back of our Z's.

I have a 10w6v2 in mine...its more than enough for the small hatchback

+1 for everything he said. don't waste your time getting a shop to fab a box for you. the zenclosures under strut box with the w6v2 is a good combo.

I agree, I'm looking at the corner sub enclosure they have on their web site.

10w3's aren't that great. I had a pair in a Stealthbox and their sound quality was meh. They hit hard, but it was hard to differentiate between tones.

Do the side boxes from zenclosures still have access to the spare tire? My s type gives me good access still.

I disagree 100% /\ /\ /\. I have a pair of 10W3v3's in a TC custom sub box in my Z and they sound fantastic. When pushed by the right amp, in my case an Alpine PDX 1000 watt amp, they sound unbelievably good. Very pleased. I tried them initially with a different HiFonics Brutus amp rated at 900watts and they sounded like junk. Hopefully you have a good amp pushing your 10W3, if not maybe that's why they aren't performing as well as they can. I have the gain turned down almost all the way and again in my head unit to negative 7 and they still thump!
