Default Equalizer channel question

Hey guys, I am considering adding an equalizer to my audio system to gain better control over the sound. I have seen several equalizers out there that offer only 2 channel RCA inputs while providing 5 channel outputs, like this one:

http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/S...5410/SFV/30046

My question is, how would I hook this up? Currently, I have 5 channels running from my HU to my speaker amp and the sub amp. Am I missing something here?

If the above unit isn't a very good one, feel free to suggest something better. What I am looking for is a decent unit that will allow me to fine tune the bands without breaking the bank. I would likely mount the EQ out of site, not on the dash.

The equalizer is designed to be installed "before" the power amplifier.

Yes, I get that point. A typical HU will have 5 channels running out of it to the amplifiers: 2 for the fronts, 2 for the rears and 1 for the sub. So, given that, how am I supposed to connect 5 signals into a single EQ which will then feed the altered signal into the amps?

For the Kicker unit you linked to, you wouldn't. You would only use the front outputs from your headunit to feed the EQ. Use the built-in crossover in the EQ to distribute the signal. This would render the balance/fade/sub-level adjustments on your headunit useless. This unit applies the EQ then splits the signal via its built-in crossover.

For the AudioControl unit you linked to (very nice unit btw), it has 6 channel preamp inputs (2-fr, 2-rr, 2-sub) with independant EQ points for each set of channels.

I am running JVC AVX-800:

It's a decent HU with lots of nice features but I find the EQ lacking (7 band) and I'd like to get a bit more flexibility there.

Gotcha. So, essentially, I need to find an EQ that will support 5 channel input if I am going to run all of my output through it. That makes sense. The AudioControl unit seems like a nice piece of equipment. Ok, so this gives me a baseline to go by when selecting my EQ. Thanks for the help guys!
