Default Sound build

Ok so I'm starting off my build, imma use the pioneer avic u310bt which has everything I want, I bought a JL Audio 10w7v3, and I'm stuck there, I need an amp and speakers, anyone have any suggestions? I wanna spend as least as possible but get the best stuff I can, I was thinking of a jl 600 1 hd amp but idk if there's anything better, thanks

well since you already have a w7 then you either have to get a zenclosures.com box, either that or get a box custom made, i personally picked JL C5 650's with a JL 300/2 amp powering them, and i also have a JL stealhbox with 2 w3 10"s powered by a JL 500/1.

However define a budget, go listen to what you like best in audio stores and decide, that's pretty much what you have to do because sound is a preference. Alot of members told me to stay away from JL audio, however it turned out to be what I liked best. There are better than a 600/1 hd, the JL has a 1000/1 technically but i would get the 600/1 for size/weight reasons. Good Luck, you'll enjoy the audio once its in

Aight thanks man, ok so what amp do you recommend for the sub? I didn't want to overpower it, just enough to sound nice, that's why I thought of the 600/1, so the 500/1 sounds good with your w3's??

Might as well match the amp to sub, especially since the w7's are weird 3ohm's right? The JL 600/1 would be perfect, those amps give the same power between 1.5-4ohms... I have a JLw5 (shallow mount one) with the 750/1HD and I love it.

If you can't afford the JL amp just get one that is around 750RMS@2ohm and it'll be perfect. (sundown, audioque, kicker, DD are a few brands to look at besides JL)

Edit- I also had a 10 w7 with a JL 500/1 in my 300zx TT and it was pleeeeeeeenty loud. Just feed that thing 500 rms and it will sing. Don't worry about over powering it as those subs are well made and can handle plenty as long as its clean power. Just set your gains properly.

That amp would work but you could probably find a kicker 750.1 for cheaper, that JL is one of their lower line.

Or a JL 500/1 or HD750/1 or alpine pdx 600.1

You can get equal or better for much less money that is why the general consensus around here of people who actually know what they are talking about is to stay away from JL.

i have to agree with kwame, he nailed it on the dot...lol..

i personaly love JL AUDIO.... but im not stupid..... i know jl cost more bc of the name.... there is def. products out there better for equal or less $$$.... but also take into consideration HOW LONG THE W7 LINE HAS BEEN COMPARED TO THE BEST ... every sub that comes out is always compared to the W7 line... its like the iphone... we all know there is better phones out there but they still are not the iphone...lol..

W7 line has been out for YEARS... about 10 YEARS

it does not mean jl has old crappy products... **** they got the rep they did for a reason.... so thats why you pay more for it... you cant go wrong with jl if you have the cash.... but remember jl is a very STINGY company.... for example 3ohm subs... WTF!!!>> they want you to buy there amps<< lol....

also i would build a custom box for it.... no point in getting a HQ SUB and then droping it in a CHEAP A$$ BOX!!!!.... sure it will bump but you WILL NEVER GET THE OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE OF THE SUB....

i hate when ppl spend so much money on HQ parts and then use CHEAP $H!T to install it...

dont cheap out now.... you have to pay to play

GL op youll be satisfied

You should purchase any box that will fit the both the space requirements of your sub and your vehicle. I hate to sound negative but it's a W7, you're going to be feeling the bass notes much more than you will actually be hearing them. I don't know if thats what you are after and I don't mean for you to have any post purchase regrets but if you are into actually listening to the details within your music the W6 would have been a much better sub to have purchased.

+1 I have the W6 in a Zenclosures with the jl500/1..... sounds great and is way more than u need in a hatch back......just make sure you don't skimp out on wiring...... that's just as important as the equipment......there's so much noise unshielded wiring can pick up!!!

Lol you should probably do your own research. Then you will figure it out. Derpa.

Obviously it puts out 100rms more... note the 600 not 500 right? (hes hooking up a 3ohm woofer btw) Good Job.

Now does it put out 600rms at 1.5-4 ohms? Wierd... no it does not.

Go hook your lanzar subs up to your xplode amp bud.

that was a general statement about the amp and your comment...not about running a 3ohm sub off of it....which in fact i am running the xd 600/1 on a single 10w7....and it rocks it...its very efficient and does not even get hot...so dont call it the lower line pal...because its an awesome amp...i've owned jl audio for years and have never owned anything lanzar or sony so stop trying to get people to laugh at stupid comments...and using the word "derpa" really makes you look like an uneducated 16 year old who spends wayyy too much time on 4chan looking at cp....

Oh Noes I Is 22!!! I promise!

Once again just because the amp works fine does not mean it is not lower line.... Lol, go on to JL's site and it list their lines top to bottom, with the XD being second to last. Good job running the 600/1 on a 10w7... I bet you feel proud. My HD750/1 never gets hot either and its 150watts more!!!! It be a MIRACLE.

Of course the xd600/1 would be a good choice, it does the power, and a solid piece. But it is still JL's lower line regardless.

I believe you on the lanzar / sony too

Ok lol well now I have another question, since I upgraded my bass, will upgrading my components (smaller speakers) upgrade the quality of the sound?
