Amp and Sub wattage question
ok i'm new when it comes to car audio. I bought a pioneer GM-D7500M Amplifier which is: 800 max watts
continuous power 200 watts at 4 ohms
400 watts at 2 ohms.
now i'm planing on buying the TS-SW251 pioneer shallow mount sub. The sub specs are 800 Watts MAX. Music Power
200 Watts Nominal Power Handling
Now my question is this sub and amp compatible. Plz if anyone has knowledge in this area give me your opinion

Don't worry about it.
Power claims are exaggerated. 800 watts with how much distortion? There is little consistency in how much the figures are exaggerated making them almost totally meaningless.

Make sure you buy either a Dual Voice Coil 4 Ohm which you can wire down to 2 ohms, or a Single Voice Coil 2 Ohm, and you can plugin directly to get the maxmimum wattage from that amp (400w @ 2ohms)
Pioneer typically overrates their amps in terms of RMS wattage, and if you're willing to spend a little more I'd suggest getting in to something like a Rockford Fosgate P300.1 or P400.1

thank you fellows.... i was just alil unsure about the max watts matching....i no it only matters when the amp is more powerful then the sub but i just wanted to make sure because i done want to waste money by blowing the sub.
