a night of hell avic 700bt install... Funny.
So I'm installing my stereo and I've wired up the bypass. Well, I hooked it all up and the bypass wasn't working so I unhooked it and worked out the kinks (turns out the light green wire was missing, "the parking break line" and I had to splice a new wire into the harness) but as I hooked it up the radio wouldn't work, and my gauges were dead... panic.
we(my friend and I) worked through every possible solution... nothing was working. THEN FINALLY A MOMENT OF CLARITY. The radio will not turn on unless the antenna is hooked up....
ok antenna hooked up it fires up... 3 hours later we figure out the aforementioned missing wire from the harness and hook it up... NOW I HAVE A RADIO AND A GPS... but my gauges were still dead.
figure out it's the daisy chained upper gauges... hook them up... still no tac or speedo. refuse to panic again... reinstall the AC controller... boom I have a tac.
between snaking the mic, the GPS unit, reflashing from the old f series firmware, and wiring the bypass.... total install went for 6 hours plus.
but it was worth it. I have 2 map sets, and all features work when the car is moving. I only panicked 3 or 4 times, and now I know what ever wire in every harness in my car is.
I fell asleep in the garage for a bit... it was surreal... I woke up staring at my Brembos.
