1800.00 wow! really nice head unit and nice features but i think im going to try and install a galaxy tab for 299.00 and have internet,email,apps, etc.. i believe the introduction of tablets in the 7 inch range may finally start driving down some of the ridiculous prices these companies charge for head units these days but who knows..

 

You will still need a preamp for volume control and there will be no fidelity in sound or no processor. Can it be done yes. There is no dash kit so labor unless you are doing it yourself will be at a cost. You will end up saving about $500-600 at the end after you spend what you need to get to the same level of performance. At the end you still won't have a DVD player nor will you have all the other built in goodies Kenwood has.

If you are in the market for a IN-DASH DVD CD FM AM HD Radio receiver this is the best and most intuitive option.

let's not compare apples to oranges please.

Tablet or an ipad or any other platform that mimics the same idea is not an IN-DASH Receiver made for a Car or truck environment. Sound quality certainly won't be the same.

We have entertained the idea of having similar in our cars but it is much easier to use the Kenwood in the long run.

 

$1800 for a head unit in 2011 just seems ridiculious to me, i wouldn't spend it myself

 

Pandora Link is only compatible with iPhones? or will it also work with Android Phones?

I am not here to say $1800 is not a lot of money. But look at all you are getting, If it is too much to swallow, There are lesser priced items with lesser options. Now adays you can get a CD / DVD rom aUDIOVOX FOR $499 BUT that is all it will be, wuality difference is huge. I have them on the board next to each other and functionality and use is a night and day difference. 9 out of 10 people will pick the Kenwood at double the cost.

It is like saying 370z or 350z is overpriced while you are in the market for a Hyundau accent. They all have 4 wheels and tires, a steering wheel and will get you from A-B but in what style do you want to get to B.

Again I am here to help the few people who are interested and put $400 in their pocket.

Is there a DDX version and if so does it work with the KNA G610?

 

NO DDX This year. They did away with Non Nav units in 7" Screen Size.

Sell your ddx896 now and preorder the new unit. It will be worth driving around a couple months with no radio... J/K

 

I had a KNA G510 connected to a DDX 7019, got the 610 found no workee with 7019. Got a DDX814 found no 610 function

Sold the 814 got the 896. Thinking I'm leaving it alone for now.

This does look great and I like where Kenwood is going. (love the units I mentioned above)

Can Video play from both ipods connected or just one?

 

No only one I-Pod that has the ip-302 plugged into it.

You also need to change USB source to acces the other ipod.
