need opinion on W7
nazar is taking my car on friday to put the system. I just wanted feedback from people with 1 10W7. This is what iwant but i do not want to find myself looking for more bass down the road. If i have to, i will just do two now. Opinions please
nice. he called me the other day to tell me to come listen to your car after he set it up.
he doing a custom install in my car but wanted me to hear the under the strut box before he made my boxes.
this set up is supposed to be awesome! i'm just putting 2 8s in the car...and i want t different, more unique, set up...but, if i like the way your car sounds...i'll be going with the under the strut box.
check the sig for what nazar is doing to my car....

i am thinking about doing the neons too... what were you thinking about for a custom box. I kinda want the subs facing up inbetween the strut bar and back seats, like others have done, but i think it will sound better under the strut bar. Just sucks losing all of the trunk space, cuase there isnt much to start with.

don't fire the sub to the front of the car...it won't sound as good.
it will sound the best firing back towards the trunk area.
My system is as follows:
Pioneer 9400mp headunit
JL XR650 2-way components in doors
JL TR650 coaxials for rears
JL 10W7 under strut tower bar in a Nazar sub box
JL 300/4 for full ranges
JL 500/1 for sub.
Both amplifiers are on a custom aluminum amp rack in the factory sub location.
Anyway: My impression of the 10W7 in the Nazar sub box is that it is a perfect fit for the car. The box fits more or less like a glove in the space (Mine actually fit a little too tight, I had to cut the trunk mat to make it fit). The space lost is (in my opinion) the best space to lose, since you really can't fit anything under the STB anyway.
How does it sound? The bass is finely detailed. It is possible to hear little imperfections in the recording, and it still sounds clean even at 3/4ths volume on the headunit (30/40). The bass is far more than adequate inside the car but it doesn't really carry too far. I actually have the sub level on the H/U set at -5 to make the transition from sub to components more balanced. I am completely satisfied with this setup.
I suppose if you listen to "bump" music like rap or hiphop, or if you want the whole neighborhood to hear it, you could maybe want more bass, but for rock, jazz, classical, etc the single sub is fine.

Ive always thought JL had the best sounding subs. The W7 is one awesome sub. I wish I sold JL, but Ive never been able to get it due to another store in my area has carried them since there begining, and they want let JL sale to us. Oh well. Anyway have your heard a MTX (yeah I know) 9500 sub. If it is'nt better than the JL W7 its equal to it. It is also easier to install, and has a W6 price tag. The sound of the 9500 is high end home audio like, w/ the ability to make your nose itch.
