Component speaker/Amp HELP!?!?!?!
Alright, so i'm helping a friend install 4 pairs of component speakers with separate crossovers, a 4 channel amp to power them, as well as a double din nav unit. Everything went in just fine, but when i went to turn it on, only the tweeters are playing sound (and it sounds like a full range rather than just the highs). So i took one of the stock speakers i just removed, attached some speaker wire to it, and it plays just fine coming out of the crossover, and even when i put it on the terminals of the new speaker i just hooked up. This led me to believe the new woofers were pooched. But then i took woofer lead out of the crossover and hooked it right to the speaker leads on the nav unit, and it played just fine. Then i also tried taking the woofer and putting it right to the amp (so bypassing the crossover) and it didnt play anything. The amp is set to flat (even tried putting it to hpf and lpf) and ive adjusted the gain and frequencies, i've also tried changed the settings on the nav unit too with no avail... please heeeeelp!
You are not receiving replies, and I think that is because your problem description and your repair-attempts description are not clear. For example “4 pairs of component speakers with separate crossovers” could be 4 pairs x2 =’s 8 component speakers (16 individual components in all)… or maybe 2 pairs x2 =’s 4 component speakers, or maybe… You get the point.
I’m having difficulty following your testing descriptions. One thing I always do before installing electronic equipment in a car is bench-testing the devices and the setup before actually installing the components in the car. Use a voltage converter or just a 12v battery to power up the devices. That way you know the devices are good and eliminate a wiring or ground problem before going to all the work of installing a device and then having a problem and not knowing if the device or wiring is the issue.
You will receive better replies if you provide an equipment list, (H/U, speakers, and external amp).

My apologies... it's a JVC head unit with built in nav. Components and amp are VIBE audio. I guess i should have said 4 sets of components? ie 4 crossovers, 4 woofers, 4 tweeters. As for my tester, its just the stock speaker out of one of the doors. I wired it to woofer connection on the crossover, and it plays as it should. So i know that power is getting to the new woofer, and i know the woofer isnt f'ed because when i wired directly to the head unit, it played just fine.
