Ok so I've been searching all week and have not found a definitive answer.
I am replacing my stock head unit for an aftermarket dvd HU.
I have an 04 with Bose and no nav.
What do I need for a harness adapter?
I've read posts saying a Pac-roem-nis2 is required and I've also read in threads where people just use a $20 harness like the Crutchfields one for Bose systems.
What works and whats the advantage on one or the other?

I'll help you out by moving your thread to the correct forum. You posted in it the DIY forum where people expect the threads there to be instructions on how to do something, not questions.
I have an '03 Bose/no nav. Just installed a Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD. I used the harness from Crutchfield using the low level input RCA jacks on the new head unit. The install using that harness went perfectly. In my opinion the pac adapter is overkill as the signal from the OEM head unit is low level as well.
