But surely the best "mainstream"

If anyone disagrees well srry but I OWN a 13w7 and YES it's in my Z
I'll post pics in a bit,

Op I would listen to Travis, he has a proven background, Also are you going to build the box urself or are you going TL have someone build it or what???
PLEASE make sure whoever builds the box, that its built right! You may have to play with numbers to get the right box and you night switch it up more than once, but its all on you, TRUSt me Ive heard some cars that I thought were LOuD as f'k but the TL said otherwise, ive also heard some that ive thought were not that loud and the TL said that **** was loud, so personally if your doing comps and ur going to be competing regularly then build it for that, but for my what's more important is that I'm happy and it's loud to me
DBS #'s for sound is like dyno #'s for ppl with fi, don't get me wrong bc I'm not saying they don't matter, bc it's a VeRY good measuring point, but like I said..... I've heard some setups that surprised everyone on the TL,
Ok first off please show me where I ever said that the w7 is a spl woofer, I merely stated that my audiopipes are not as high end as a w7. Secondly 158 is easily reached and 170 is not hard to reach by any means using only 2 woofers if you know at all what you are doing. If you don't believe me maybe you should go get a bachelors degree in fluid dynamics and then you could understand how easy it is to reach these levels in any car including a 350. That being said I am not a spl guy I would rather have a nice clean even sound than drown out the actual music with the bass.

im looking for a loud daily system that can hit the lows. im not looking to burp or hit a number on tones. sorry if i made it sound like that. my fi btl will be hear tomorrow. right now i only have a rf t1500bd to power it right now. im gonna upgrade amps in the future when i get my electrical in order. i was just hoping people around here knew what was best for ported box in the 350z.

im gonna build a 2.5 net box tuned around 34hz or else anyone else has experience with the btl and what it like for tuning daily? i want some lows yet still loud. so im thinking 34hz should be fine? a

158db with those 15"s? is that with the mic in the port?

i'd be happy with a nice 145ish or so on music.

no reason for anyone to get a bit frazled , this forum is to learn and for fun

there are 2 meters used for comps

1 is the term lab and this is THE one we all swear by

2nd is the audio control and there is 2 or 3 versions

the most current version of the audio control is within 1 db of the term lab that is how close they are

i think AC 160 & AC 180

the AC 160 the older meter is 10 DB difference over the term lab
and that 10 reads higher so if one scores 160 on the old AC 160 that score will be 150 on the term lab

i must disagree with you when you say 158 & 170 are easy to reach

158 and 170 are very hard to reach

anyway
peace man

i ran an FI BTL in 2007 , 12 " , off a RF T40001 BD , in 2.5 net at 40 hertz
was very loud , but undetstand this is an spl woofer and is not a musical driver

that does not mean that is sounds terrible , and it will kill the lows at 34 hertz in 2.5 net

but after box rise, and voltage drop , that RF 1500 will not be nearly enough power

i suggest getting another RF 1500 and either strap them or run 1 amp on each coil and set gains with a DMM

ya 158-170 is not easy to achieve in anyway. i see people throwing around crazy numbers all the time. guys on my local forum is claiming 180db in his truck with 1 15. saying that's what the meter read.

this is also a fully loaded btl. yes im either gonna buy another 1500 or sell and get a bigger amp in the future. first i gotta find somewhere to buy a decent ho alt for my car.

yes im shoooting for 2.5 net at 34hz. what do you reccomend for port area? im thinking of doing a single 6" areo? dang slot ports take of so much space. im guessing the btl's like lots of port area?

slot will be way easier than 6" aero

with aero you will need to use a 6" 90 degree elbow to get the proper length

go slot

i have done all this so many times in our cars, i am giving you all the answers so you don't waste time or money

I would listen to Travis op, he's gone through so many FKN setups!! Lol
He knows his stuff, wrangler alts are great, I'm personally going to try excessive amperage, last I heard, was nothing but good things

ya thanks a bunch 350z spl. i completed my box today using all your specs. i will get pictures up tomorrow. it sounds good. now i gotta work on my big 3 and getting my new alt and battery. then in the future a bigger amp. i have the gain turned way down and it still dims my lights pretty good.

box is 30w 14.5h 18.5d tuned 34hz with 42.5sq inches of port.

well here is a quick picture i took. it's a wiring nightmare right now but imgonna dynomat it and clean everything up later. i didn't get crazy on the box and round all the port edges or 45* the inside corners.

im very impressed with the btl on such little power. this thing slams and hits the lows pretty hard. the windshield wipers dance around and it shakes my flip out dvd/cd monitor.

overall im very pleased. thanks for all the advice and info everyone.

that is the correct way to run it to be loudest , this is how i have mine

slot port on driver side
sub on passenger side
sub & port up

my box is 31" x 14.5" x 19"
with 1 each 15" Digital Design 9515G
40 hertz , car peaks at 53 on tones

i use a 200 amp wrangler
6 runs of 0 awg
75 square feet of stinger roadkill
roughly 3500 watts on it

on full tilt at idle my voltage drops to about 13.7-13.8

350Z SPL you mentioned your box is 31" x 14.5" x 19" with 1 each 15" Digital Design 9515G 40 hertz , car peaks at 53 on tones. I have made plenty of sealed boxes but never tried to make a sloted or ported box. How do you know how to make the port, sp inches, how long etc.

My LT Won, Is the box above you posted the dimensions 350z SPL mentioned?

I just installed my BC 2000 with 2 - 10 FI Q at 1 ohm other than my major problems with low friggen volts with 2 - 1800 kinetiks in the rear I am not happy with the outcome of teh subs so Im pretty much deciding to go 1 - 15 ported and would love some advise from you guys. Thanks.
