Default Pioneer AVH-3200BT Installed!

Just finished installing my Pioneer AVH-3200BT HU. Very excited when I turned on the car and everything worked as expected. Had some fitment issues with the Metra body kit but it doesnt look too bad. Not a lot of room back there to squeeze the wiring into.

Also, I removed the OEM navigation and replaced it with a Magellan 1700 touch screen navi. This thing is sweet and so much easier to use than the OEM version.

Running 2 amps as well in the trunk and 2 10" subs behind the driver and passenger seats. Will be completing the trunk install this weekend. Right now its a mess back there (but functional).

Awesome! This head unit has everything that I wanted. Lots of interesting features on this HU that I hasnt completely played with yet. Still need to get my bluetooth speaker mounted (will probably double-side tape it to the side of the center console).

I also used the relay box (bought from ebay) for the DVD bypass so that passengers can watch videos while the car is moving.

Looking into making some sort of cover as well so that potential thieves wouldnt know what is back there.. Will probably use a carbon fiber sheet that I have and cut it to the correct size and then make some kind of mounting mechanism.

Hey I'm looking at the same one, quick question though. Is that relay needed for the video and is there an easier way to have video while in motion? I've heard of simply grounding a wire but I really have no clue.

The relay isnt needed. You can also use a 2 position switch. Connect one side to ground and the other to 12V. The Head Unit needs to see a toggle in the signal before it will allow you to play DVDs without the parking break. If you just ground the parking break wire, the HU will never see a 12V signal and will not switch for you.

The relay was the easiest and cleanest way to do it. I didnt want to drill holes to mount a flush switch. It tucks behind the HU and was bought for $11.00 from ebay.

^ I beleive the HU does not want to see 12v it wants to see a ground toggled after the HU powers up.

You need to use a kit? Won't fit in the double din area without it? HU comes with a trim ring right? I bought the same one too but it won't be here until next week.

Sorry for the late response. Was out of town for work and didnt see this message.

You will definitely need the metra trim kit. The HU doesnt come with one and you will have a large gap on all 4 sides without it. Let me know if you need any pictures or have any more questions. install went together pretty easy.

Go on Ebay. I tied in Pioneer AV-3200BT bypass and you come up with 100s of links. I think that I paid $11.00 or so.

Or you can go to the auto parts store and buy a universal 4 pole relay (commonly used for foglight or horn installs)

Pins 85 + 87 ground (Black) Jumper from 87 to 85 then from 85 into ground on harness
Pin 86 Remote turn on (Blue or blue striped remote wire) Splice into blue remote wire on harness
Pin 30 Video wire (green) Connect to green video wire on harness.

I just got the AVH 2300DVD installed which is the same as the 3300 but without the BlueTooth. The fitment on the kit is not that flush. I'm not sure exactly which metra trim kit the shop used, but I can still see a bit of gap between the HU and the trim. Did they just half-*** it? Or should I bring it to another shop and see if they can do a better job?

Any of you using this HU with a stock Bose system? The audio is horrible since the crossover must be located in the sub amp so I can use the HPF in the headunit to cut the low freq. to the main speakers. I hate to say it, but the sound was actually better with the stock headunit. I plan on doing something about the sub, but I'm just seeing if anyone had any suggestions in the meantime. I've played with the EQ a bit and made it a little better, but not much.
