Default Need help with radar detector install?

Number one: Yes I am new to this site because I have only owned my Z for a month, but I am not new to forums and know how things work. That being said.......

I have searched tireleslly to find something on how to short wire or hard wire my radar detector and GPS in my Z. My only real complaint with my car is the location of the charger location. When I do my vehicles, I try and keep them as clean as possible, and trying to figure this out it becoming a headache. I'd like to do it myself rather than professionally not only to save money, but to be able to say I did it. If anyone can help me out with some links or pics or advice, anything would be appreciated. Thank you!

what radar detector?

If the V1 or the Escort there are some very nice options for hard-wiring and clean installs.

If you have a homelink mirror you can just tap into the back of it to get power for the detector. I have mine set up that way with a rear view mirror detector mount. I doubt it would be able to power a GPS though.

It's some shitty Cobra radar I picked up at Walmart for about 150 bucks. It gets the job done where I live. The V1 radars are awesome because of the options to install with the brackets, but I'm not looking to buy another one unless absolutely necessary.

There's an accessory wire in the a pilliar that you can wire tap for power. I used to have a V1 with no homelink mirror so I just spliced the power there, soldered everything up and ran the wire through the headliner and to the radar right by the mirror. Obviously a bit of wire showing still, but it comes down behind the rear view and you can't see it.
