Default Head Unit Install Options and other system questions

Hello all NEw guy here. I bought my Z a week ago today and have been lurking here ever since. I have been using the search engine to answer some of my questions and to do some research, but now I have a few specific questions. I have seen some of your systems and I am VERY impressed! I was hoping to get a little help with a few questions, here goes...

1. HU. I have an Alpine HU from my previous car. It is a year old or so (Can't remember the model #) , single DIN. What are my options for dash install with a single DIN? I'm not too crazy about the open tray that the regular kit leaves. Are there other options available without buying a new radio or going custom?

2. Fronts. With other vehicles I have gotten decent results by pushing the factory speakers with a clean amp. Any chance this is the case for the Z? Or would I get better results using my ALpine HU to push the fronts and put some nice MB Quarts in there? I will probably do new fronts and an amp eventually, but I will go in stages.

3. Subs. I'm thinking two JL 10s, mounted under the strut brace. I have seen NAZAR's kit, are there any others out there? Am I best off going with a custom enclosure? Weight is a concern as I would like to open track this car a few times a year.

4. Amp Racks. I love wht you guys have done with the amp racks in the glove boxes. I'm thinking I could use the space behind my drivers seat for a pair of amps. How tight is this space? Are you just screwing the rack into the floor, or are there better options?

Any other advise would be appreciated!

Thanks!
Matt

I can answer your first question, as I am waiting on an answer for your second question. I am hesitant right now about upgrading my head unit since i want the pioneer dvd touch screen p7500 model which costs like 1400-1500 dollars. You can understand that, right?

But I just purchased a single din kit from this guy wadd on these forums, waiting for it to be shipped. His web site is:

http://www.extremespeedonline.com/sk/

Go to the price list, select nissan, then 350z, and the two plates on the bottom. The Z plate is way cooler. enjoy.

Cool, thanks for the tip. Has anyone installed this? How is the final fit and finish?

Do a search for wadd, or just look at everyone's installs. It looks really nice.

What head unit did you buy for your car?

I have an Alpine 7894. It has been in my M3 and my F250. No complaints.
