Bose amp New head unit help!
Hi everyone, i just got my 03 sc 350z last week, and it came with the oem bose audio.
I installed a Alpine ixa w404 head unit and the volume level is so high.. if i just get the radio to 3/40 volume level its like at a 100% almost, so i connected a already amplified woofer to the back of the HU and it barely sounds because the level is only at 3 in the unit, but the music is really loud..
I looked everwhere online and i can only can the issue backwards,, very low output with a new HU, is there something i can do to get the level of the amp down to a normal level??
Thanks!

it sounds like you just went with a straight harness designed for the non bose units.
here is hte issue.
the stock non-bose headunit sends speaker level (say 20watts or more per channel) to the speakers direct, so if you had a non bose car, this wouldnt be an issue.
however, in the stock bose config, the bose headunit sends a low level line signal (less than volt really) to the bose amp, which then amplifies things...
so now, you are sending a high level signal to the bose amp, and when it tries to amplify it, well...its gonna go crazy loud and distorted.
some people prefer to use the metra harness with the rca jacks that plugs into the new headunit's rca output, but my preference is to use:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142C4NN...e+nissan&avf=N
what it is basically is an adjustable lineout converter inline with the speaker outputs, this allows you to adjust the volume accordingly after you do the install.
i would swap to that and redo your connections. dont secure the headunit but power it on, play a track you know play with the volume controls, and see where you can set it so you are happy.
since it sounds like you are poewr a separate sub too withthe headunit, make sure the sub is connected to the non fading rca output of the unit.
