Default -- Custom Iphone Mount - Fake Knee Pad --

so this is my solution to a stupid problem. just installed my pioneer avh-p43000dvd and so I couldn't just drop it in the pocket below my single like I used to.

don't like any of the car mounts out there, thought I could come up with a slightly more stock look

seated a white (button-less release) dock cord in the bottom, was a PITA to get it so it would slide in perfectly every time. wish I would have taken photos of my beautiful dremel job.

also made sure it fit a iphone4, but im still rocking the old one.

oh ya constantly. either my own music or now this new headunit even has its own pandora interface. first thing I do when I get in is drop it in.

so much better than radio and cd's

so it slides in there as if it was being docked? or you physically plug it in, and then put it in the holder? while im hoping it is the first, it is a very clean job and convenient

ya you got it right, the dock/plug is dremeled out and glued in the bottom, need a cord that doesn't require you to squeeze the sides to unlock it.

so when you slide it all the way in it plugs it in & connects to stereo, charges battery.

Sick. Sounds like you've found your niche and could make a little money fabbing these up.

I would seriously consider building these for others. if there are actually multiple interested parties. want to expirement with adding some nice stitching on there, maybe a carbon di-noc one.

I would need me a minute to refine into something that could be mass produced.

would run into some trouble once I started getting different phones and cords but I could figure it out. just have to get my hands on friends phones.

one comment a buddy of mine had is on his headunit you still have to be able to operate the screen/phone while being plugged in. but I could prolly include some kind of window if needed.

lmk if interested, and thanks for lookin at another one of my lil projects

So what exactly did you use to replace the stock knee padding thing? Looks like its got texture to match the stock interior...so im curious to know what you made it out of haha...

I plan on getting a double din sometime soon and this look SICKKK....

+100 for creativity and craftsmanship! Looks like you really did a good job
