Not sure of your question - I have a Kenwood deck and also have my Ipod Nano plugged into it. I control the Ipod thru the head unit touch screen. Same controls as Ipod, playlists, albums, artists, etc. And my Ipod is connected via usb cable to the rear of the head unit.

I have the 7017 in my truck and it does allow me to control my ipod, but its a bit quirky. You wont be able to navigate with ease through it. I had to play around with it, but in all honesty its not worth the hassle to control through deck. From what I remember I had to press like a sequence of 4 buttons to change the song. I wont have my truck for a couple days, but when I'm able to drive it again, i'll try to walk you through it.

Sorry guys my question is. How do I control my iPod or iPhone threw the device. Is all I'm slowed to do now is threw the deck. I would like to know how to do it threw my iPod or iPhone. When I plug either of them in the device says charger is not supported with this accessory. I would like to control my music threw my iPod or phone.

"How do I control my iPod or iPhone threw the device." and "I would like to control my music threw my iPod or phone." ??????Your comments, so which is it? Do you want to control your Ipod via the head unit or via the controls on the actual Ipod? Would love to help you but don't understand what your goal is. Once you plug in the Ipod to your head unit via USB, you should be able to control the Ipod thru your head unit. When I plug in my Nano, all Nano controls are via the head unit and touch screen commands.

It will not work, because APPLE decided to change there charging voltage. The DDX8017 was not a USB model therefore it is using the old KCA-IP500 ipod adaptor. This was the first generation Ipod adaptor for Kenwood that used the changer port to plug in. The simple answer to your question is your Kenwodd model came out years before the the IPod or Iphone you are trying to use therefore it is not fully functional.
