rear speaker suggestions
i am purchasing focal polyglass 165 v2 components for the front, and a jl 300.4. does anyone have good recommendations for the rear speakers? i know that getting something real fancy will probably be silly because the seats block a lot of the music. I was thinking about mb quart reference.... i need something for mids and highs. i will have a seperate sub for lows. suggestions please and thanks.

I am putting the mid-nass Boston 6.5" speaker back there, with 4s and tweets in the door. I've never been a big fan of rear speakers myself; I like all the sound to come from the front. But, that's jsut me

Well, the speakers I'm putting back there ain;t cheap! But, they're stricly for mid-bass, no mids or highs. If you put some quality speakers up front, you really don't need anything back there: I jsut don't want to build kicks to fit 6.5" speakers up front and I think they'll be ok behind me.
There are two reasons for rear speakers: passenger in the rear (not aplicable) and rear fill. So, I recommend you just skip it. Put the $$ in better speakers/amp up front. If you don't like it, just keep the stockers back there...

If you're going to use jl audio products why don't you just put in a 6" jl midbass wofer with no highs. You'd get good mid bass that you could feel and they also play mid vocal pretty well. Jest a suggestion.

Also, I'd like to state that rear speakers are just as important as the front when it comes to fine tunning your system. Rear speakers are meant to fill in your sound system reguardless if your car has rear seat or not. You just have to FINE TUNE your system accourdingly. Fade the rear speakers out a little accourding to personal prefrense but don't dismissed them all together. If you do, i think your making a big mistake, unless good enough really is good enough for you. It's not for me. Diffenetly not for my 350Z!

I'm running the Sony HD160G's all the way around (aluminium diaphragms) with JBL tweets and a 10" Kenwood Sub in the cutout behind the seat. Not the best setup for a sub, but I've yet to hear any better for the 6.5".
Just my two cents

Damn... now I'm more confused than before..
I'm gonna need some suggestions guys. What's a good midbass for a decent price.
BTW I thought all the speakers were 6.5 inches, not 6 (there were some replies with 6 inch speakers)????
Not looking to spend another $200 for speakers that probably won't be heard...

I don't know much about staging and that other stuff, but I can tell you this....
I have MB Quart up front, and added some k65's (kicker) to the back. I have 2 solobaric 10's in the back that can make the front winshield wipers jump, and the one thing that everyone says about my system is that it is very clear.
I think the reason is having tweets behind (on the coax k65's) and in front with the MB Quart. To me the key is, you have to make sure the balance is correct and adjust your xover according to your speakers and sound desired.
just my 2 abe's

Close your eyes to check your staging. In a well set up system the instruments will seem to be coming from your windshield. The higher up on the windshield the better. Too much rear fill, especially highs from the rear, will screw with that front staging, and you will actually perceive that the sound is coming from the sides.

I have set of MB Quart QSD 164 mid bass drivers that I was going to put in my car, but I sold it. I also have a set of QSD 218. I will take $300+ shipping for the 164's and $500 for the QSD 218. Let me know if you are interested.
