Default SAT Radio Question

I just ordered Alpine INA-W910. My car is 07 with Bose + Navi and it came with Sirius. I was wondering, can I reuse the Sirius antenna with the Alpine unit or is it not reusable? And if it isn't reusable, and I decide to have it removed, will there be holes on the roof?

If I understand this correctly, Satellite radio antennas are interchangeable. They all do the same thing. I have a Clarion H/U with its Sirius/XM module, and I am using a Kenwood satellite antenna for reception.

You should be fine retaining your current satellite antenna.

The antenna plug/jack for the XM receiver that came with the 2006(?) - 2009 Bose stereo is unique to the Bose system. It will only act as a direct plug-in for the Bose XM Satellite receiver that's located in the trunk. That's not to say that you can't rig up some adapter or splice into the wires to make it work on your aftermarket HU, but it's not going to be a direct plug-in. And yes, if you take the factory Sat antenna off the roof of your car, there's going to be a hole up there.

Hopefully there’s an adapter since you cannot splice the wires in a Satellite antenna.

The proprietary nature of Bose components is very aggravating when you need to change part of the system.

Well I got my car used and it's been 3 months since and my Sirius still works. Not that I plan on paying for it if it does expire since they don't have very many good stations that I would listen to. Just thinking of possibilities of keeping that roof antenna but if it doesn't work w/ my new headunit and if there will be holes, I'll prolly just leave it there.

Thanks for the info tho.

Yeah, I just left the antenna cover on the roof when I ripped out the BOSE garbage. The antenna jack is dangling in the rear cubby just waiting to be connected to something. I was thinking that if I was careful enough, I could remove the cover, rip out the guts and replace it with an aftermarket antenna box to make it functional, but that's just me being hard-headed. To be honest with you, the only time I notice the thing is when I'm washing the car.
