2 JL W3v3-4 with RF P5001bd amp
is this enough for these subs or are they being underpowered?
I just had this system installed for me and after some research it seems like the amp is hardly enough for the 2 subs.
It seems like a JL 500 1v2 would be much more capable?
Thank you for any input!
(ill post pictures as soon as I can)

i am assuming these are wired for a 2 ohm load, correct? if thats the case, the amp is putting out 400w rms. the jl provides 500w rms at 2 ohms. to make the upgrade worthwhile, i would look at something bigger than the slash. fwiw, jl recommends between 150 and 500 watts for the w3v3, about 300w being optimal. are they underpowered? debateable, not according to JL. can they handle more power? certainly yes.

going from 400 to 500 watts will make a difference, but not a big one. It would be one thing if we were talking about a cheap amp that probably didn't make the 400watts it claimed and then going to a JL slash 500. But I expect that the RF claim of 400 watts is legit, if not underrated.

So the difference between the two should be small.
