Default MB Quart QM218.61Q v. PCE 216

I can get the Q for about $50 more than the PCE's, I assume they are an older model? Do you think it's worth it to get the Q's for the price difference, and does anyone with either model know if the tweeters will fit flush, or there will be extra mods to do? I know seeing the PCE's in the store, the tweeters looked larger than the RCE's for some reason.

Also, anyone using a kicker solobaric in the Bose location? I'm thinking solobaric because they can be used in a much smaller box. What do you think is a fair price for a custom box to fit in the area? Nothing fiberglass or anything, just something I can get in there cheaply with some dynamat and pillow stuffing (on a budget here

Thanks

I went to sound advice Sunday and listened to both. Reg. Price the Q's are like $1,100 and the Premium (pce's) are like $550-$600. I couldn't tell much of a difference. Ecpecially a $500 one. But for $50 you can't really go wrong. The Q's are suppose to have better crossover and tweeter. I listened to the Q's, PCE's, JL XR's, and Boston Pro's. I like the PCE's the best and ordered them for $259 form ikesound.com. I think I saw the Q's on ebay for $329. Don't worry about the tweeter fit they told me they had already put 2 sets in Z's.

Yea, but I think the new Q's are the QSD. I'm talking about the 218.61 Q's. I assume that QSDs are just the new 218.61's, but not sure. Does anyone know?

And I also listened to them at Sound Advice down in South Florida. Amazing what a ripoff. They are asking $579 for the PCE's, and online it's $259. So you know that Sound Advice is probably getting them for $150-$200 or so and marking it up way over 100%.

Yeah I had a hard time keeping a straight face as we were going through prices. I went there and pick out my system but bought nothing.

I caution all of you about buying MB Quart products from online sources. MB Quart does not use distributors and dealers are not allowed to sell their products thru the web. The warranty is VOID when you buy online, just be careful!

Is that the same situation with ALL speakers bought online? I'd rather go with a nice set of BA's if I can get them cheaper online and they have the warranty.

well I can buy 2 sets of non-warrantied speakers or 1 set of warrantied. So if anything does ever happen. I'll still be alright.
