ok so i installed mb quart pce 216 (6.5 inch components front) and pce 213 (5.25 components rear) and theyre being powered by a alpine mrv-5435 (i think thats the numbers) its a 4 channel pumping 125wattsx4channels. when i turn the volume up i hear no distortion just crisp clear sound, but id like it a little louder, however at volume 50, the fuses/lights in the crossovers (all 4) start glowing red at times when the songs pumping alot of mids/highs.
went back into the amps and HU settings and tuned it further to allow me to turn it up to 55 before it starts doing this again.
is this going to damage anything, is it OK to have the light looking things start glowing orange??? what if they only do so a tiny bit during some songs?
excuse my ignorance, im not new to audio systems in terms of whats what but ive never used component systems before due to the price (these were 500 each...before my discount
)
thank you!

I've got the pce 216's all around, powering them 80x4 @ 4 ohms. I don't think mine light up red, so that sounds weird. I suppose it's not a problem because worst case the fuse will blow before any real damage is done. 55 sounds like a real high volume number...r u sure u don't want to turn the gain up on the amp? By the time I put mine at 30 on my alpine, my ear drums are rattling (and so is my car).
i havent used MBQs for a while but you sure thats a fuse? and not a light bulb that is the norm for tweeter protection glowing red?
wtih many components, they put a light bulb in tghe xover so when the tweeter channel gets too much power, it dissipates some of the power by poewring up the light bulb...

that sounds right about the light bulb...though i feel like i remember there being a fuse when i installed my MBQs.
too bad my car is at home (and i'm 3000 miles away) so I can't check.

it would be kinda dumb to have a fuse int he xover wouldnt it? i mean...isntead of dissipating and protecting the tweet, it woudl just shut it off completely?
and as far as i nkow, fuses would be in some serious issue if it glows red and dont break

haha yea i wonder what kind of metal they'd have to use for it to glow red with 125 watts of power.
I do know that when i installed my components and they were playing, i don't recall seeing any red whatsoever.

ive seen this before in a mate of mines car. he had some 'Vibe' speakers with these in. he was over powering them and eventually, the actual plastic around the 'bulb' melted and warped. . . . lol
looking at the MB quart site, it is to protect the tweeter from overloading =
A light bulb is incorporated into the crossover networks to extend the life of the tweeter by protecting it against overloading
so, basically, turn your highs down . . . . a image a little glowing is 'normal', when they are pushed. . . but not all the time. As far as i know, MB Quart tweeters are quite soft, so, pushing to get that harsh treble sound you may be used to is the wrong thing to do with this set. . .?

yea i figured it was some sort of fuse idea (it is protecting the tweeters) and i thought it looked like a light bulb, not knowing for sure what it was i wanted to ask.
im pushing 125x4 watts
i played with the gains very much to get it how it is, i dont see the gain being higher helping this. ill play with it a little again though.
