Default Installing a separate sub

Hey guys, I recently decided to change my headunit and keep the stock bose amp sub and speakers. Is it possible to add an after market amp and sub to this setup? Or I will either have to use BOSE sub amp or the after market sub amp.
Thanks.

You can add another amplifier and woofer sure. What I do not know is where does the signal come from? Does the head unit have two pre-outs for woofers?

why would you want to keep a low powered sub and amp, then add an aftermarket sub and amp. Scrap the bose amp and sub, use the old bose sub cavity for a amp mounting location then install aftermarket sub in trunk.
