blew my alpine type r alpine said i underpowerd
so i have 2 of the newer alpine type r dvc 4ohm i a zen closer box there are wired down to a one ohm load powered by a hifonics brutus 1200.1d this is cea comp 1200w rms at 1 ohm.
yesterday i separated the cone from the voice coil listing to deadmau5 these subs are only 4 months old i dont push them that hard they are rated at 600rms each and 1800 peak each now i called alpine and the guy was like your under powering them they need at least 1000w each.
im using 0 gauge power wire into a disto box then out to 2 4 gauge wires one for my highs amp and one for the brutus they both have there own 4 gauge grounds grounded to seprate bolts.
what am i doing wrong here did i do anything wrong they are both brand new and only 1 blew.

Well everything, even things manufactured to be the exact same such as those, differs. It makes complete sense that only one blew. Are you sure you can run them 1ohm? But if they need 1k each, then you need to run 1k each to them. Under or overpowering can blow speakers.
If your amp is 1200 true and the subs are 600 true, then you're fine on power and I'd say it's the impedance. But this is just based on the little I know of speaker setups; I could be wrong.

Does not sound like you were underpowering them . Where is the amps gain set at? If the gain is cranked up and your clipping your amp , then you could run into problems . Also it is best to ground both amps at the same location . On a side note , How long is the 4 Gauge power wire to the Brutus ? My MTX 1501D( Truck) is 1000W Rms @ 2 Ohm , It calls for 1/0 Gauge from the battery all the way to the amp . Your Brutus is probably pulling more current than my MTX amp and your filtering it down to 4 Gauge wire .

I have to look tommarow I kind of set it where it sounded good thinking there's no way I can blow them lol the 4 Gauge Is less then 2 feet long the amps are behind the driver seat in the stock bose sub location. I had ground problems when they were on the same bolt so I gave them there own grounds about 2 inches apart

When two or more devices are connected to a common ground through different paths, a ground loop occurs. Currents flow through these multiple paths and develop voltages which can cause damage, noise or 50Hz/60Hz hum in audio or video equipment. To prevent ground loops, all signal grounds need to go to one common point and when two grounding points cannot be avoided, one side must isolate the signal and grounds from the other.

You want to make sure you are sending clean power to the speakers. If you are pushing your amp with your gains turned too high, you are more likely to blow a voice coil.
6 years ago I had 2 D4 Type Rs wired to 1-ohm on that generation Hifonics Brutus 1200 and blew one of the subs after less than a year. Replaced it with a less overrated amp rated at 1500 @ 1 ohm, kept my gains low, blasted the speakers all the time and was fine.
See if you can search for how to properly tune an amp. I was never interested in learning that, so I just kept gains low haha.
