After market head unit that works with hands free phone in a 2008 Z?
The stock Bose (non-nav) cd changer/head unit broke in my 2008 Z. The installer at my local car audio told me that he couldn't guarantee that any stereo that I went with would fully support my hands free phone system and steering wheel controls. Extra $180 just for steering wheel wiring kit, but no guarantee?!?
Does anyone know of a particular head unit that's compatible with the phone system and uses the stock mic for voice activated dialing as well as steering wheel controls? I may just buy a refurb stock Bose and forget about it.

I looked everywhere for something like that and couldn't find anything. That was about 2 years ago though. I ended up just using the Bluetooth phone controls on my new JVC 2-DIN Headunit, swapped the phone buttons on the steering wheel for on/off and mute buttons from an older model Z, and hooked that up to a steering wheel remote unit that was compatible with my JVC head unit, so now I get on/off and mute plus volume and tuning from the steering wheel. I can't control the phone from the steering wheel, but no big, I just use my other hand. As for microphone placement, you'll need to drop the headliner, Dremel out the old mic and replace it with the new mic that comes with your new head unit. It's a pain to do, but it's the best place for a microphone in the car. You can not use the factory microphone on an aftermarket head unit (Thanks BLOSE).
