Default magellan 1700 fitment

Anyone else seems to have the same issue as me when trying to fit your 1700 into a 03 cubby? The casing seems to be too big to fit in between the cubby...

I haven't done this but perhaps taking it off would help?

I think in other posts the case has been off the unit.

Dont you hate when stuff like this happens during an install? So frustrating.

There has to be an answer. I tried to take the case off of mine because I was going to relocate the speaker, but couldnt get the screws to move and only tried for like 20 seconds before I said F it.

You can probably shave it, or the bay down a little bit also. You only need the red 3M double sided tape to hold it in, so you dont need plastic on the sides.

well i went ahead and did a bold move by shaving down the gps itself. Shaving the plastic on the side of the cubby would cause the lid to stay in (03 lid). Everything fits perfectly, wired everything and its up and running whenever i turn the car on.
