Dumb Bose auto volume disable?
Is there an easy way to disable the volume gain based on cabin noise on the Bose installed in the ZR? I'd prefer to twiddle my own volume control....
(basically, gain is too high for my liking)

If I read correctly, you are speaking of the Audiopilot crap.
There are posts in here about trying to beat the mic with a cheap radioshack part, but I think there was mixed reviews about the actual results.

Read the manual???!!!???? What a concept! There it is, in Section 4, under radio: Push Audio set button four times, push tune to turn Audiopilot on or off, and it's done.
Maybe I'll curl up with the manual in front of a hot fire tonight and see what other neat things my ZR has to offer me that I don't know about?
Thanks AndyB for bringing it to my attention!

If you have the older system where you can't turn it off you have 2 choices.
You can disconnect the microphone (there are other posts about that). Basically some people have replaced the mike with a resistor which basically tricks the system.
Your other option is to replace the radio with a 2004. With so many people replacing the stock HU with an aftermarket unit you could probably get a 2004 HU free or dirt cheap from someone here. (I am guessing lots of people just toss em).
