Dropped into my local custom auto audio shop today for some ideas and quotes for my Touring model and they recomended Kove component speakers that were in the $400.00 range and a 5 channel U.S. Amp (a Gaineville, Florida outfit) that was about $650.00. They seemed to think the U.S Amps were the sh*t.
Not familiar with either of these makes. Any thoughts?
They were figuring a fiberglass box for a 10" to be named later.
TIA

Never heard of Kove, but I know someone that ran two Infinity Perfect 12.1 subs off a US 1000 watt amp in a ported box and LOVED it... it sounded great, so I would say US amps are good, but never heard of Kove...

Well, I am looking for a 6 1/2 that really rock, That price range is OK but would like to rise above decent. I would say the stock speakers are decent.
What other amps are comparable or exceed the U.S. Amps?

You WILL NOT find a better amp than US Amps. For mainstream I am a JL Audio fan but NOTHING has ever compared to my US Amps. I've had it for over 6 years. It originally powered 6 12" JL subs. To this day it still puts out over 1200 watts at 2 ohms. Hand built in Florida...(God I miss Miami)...it doesn't get any better. (Oh by the way JL Audio is based in Miramar Florida :-))
As for Kove...Very good sub. Arguably one of the best.

Regardless of which one you get you may want to run at a 1 Farad cap. My USA-400 (old model number) puts out 1200 watts rms at 2 ohms but sucks up 130 amps at full power. They draw tons of current but hit hard as hell and won't quit. Only company I know that has an amp that makes 4000 watts rms continious. As for Kove components...if they are anything like the subs its a good investment.

Seems like we might be settling on the Kove KS 6.00 for the fronts, Kove EP6.5 for mid/low in the rears and Kove XK10 sub with the 5 channel US Amp (80X4 with 5th channel 350 watt RMS for Sub) with an Aphex AX-1 processor for extra added attraction. Need to kick it around for a bit but sure would love to hear any or all opinion on the setup before I throw down . . . Glad to get a good report on the Kove sub. The isntallers think the existing sub box with some Dynamat will be just fine.

I had US Amps in my car and loved it. My opinion on Kove is not favorable, not because they arent quality i dont know never heard them. But because they were arrogant asses when I was at the office setting something up for them.
650w should be ok. If you figure, on average, 10w = 1amp, and usamps are a little more than that, you're pulling about 70a on FULL TILT, which will never happen. Figure more like 40-55a daily, which shouldn't be a problem on our alts. Enjoy!
i have 2 US Amps...a 400X and a 2000X and be warned....they WILL kill your alt and battery unless u install them properly....(an Optima Yellow Top is a MUST)
They are driving diamond audio hex S600s comps in the front, Hex 6.5 mid-ranges in the rear and 2 TDX 10D4's
This is hooked up to a pair of audio control EQT's and man this car is a an SQ monster....I am actually thinking of transfering this into my Z when she arrives this weekend(i already bought all the necessary components to hook up my 2nd XBOX to the nav screen so that's my first project)
