Default Wanting to upgrade stock speakers for some bass

I have all stock speakers in my non Bose 350z and I also have a 12" sub with a 1000 watt mono block amp. I want some bass but I also want my trunk space back. I thinking of selling the amp and sub and just replacing all my stock speakers for some good ones that will have a good amount of bass themselves. I'm obviously not looking for as much bass as a sub but just something that has a good thump and nice crisp sound. What kind of speakers are recommended and with what type of amp. I don't want to redo all the wiring or get anything expensive.

You can get a sub box that fits in the factory sub location (behind drivers seat), about $120 on ebay. It won't have enough enough air volume to use with most 12" subs but works well with an 8 or the right 10. As many have said the stock speakers are crap. I used hertz esk components in the doors, nice speakers but needed a sub imo. FYI to make the Hertz fit you'll need about 1 1/4" of spacing to clear the windows.

I know what you mean when you say: “I want some bass but I also want my trunk space back.”

Unfortunately, changing your current setup will be costly. If you simply sell the amp and SubW, and then replace all the car’s speakers, you will end up with an awful setup with almost no bass.

From your description, you have the Clarion (not the Bose – which BTW is also junk) sound system. The H/U doesn’t have adequate power and cannot drive even a wimpy woofer.

Here’s the Clarion speaker you have in your car

Notice that the speaker supports only 40 watts of power. That’s because it is made from paper. Unfortunately, your OEM Clarion H/U won’t even stress this speaker. You get where I’m going. The OEM H/U is only good for a wimpy speaker.

So… Your best option regaining trunk space but maintaining bass in your car’s audio setup is keeping your external amp and purchasing a new SubW (8” or 10”) that you mount in the large cubby behind the driver’s seat. You can move the external amp to wherever it’s easiest to mount.

If you want to replace the other speakers, that is a different topic that you can repost here.

Make a custom box in the spare wheel area? Just throwing around options. Keep your bass, keep your trunk.

Default What about an infinity basslink II Sub system

I ditched my OEM setup about 1 year after I got my 08 Touring. Put in a double din and used the infinity basslink II sub in the OEM location.

No fitment problems at all. You can't even tell its there and sounds 200% better than the blose. Just a thought...

You need very efficient speakers. Instead of looking for how much max power or nominal, look for lowest or minimal recommended power. Separates that look and work like coaxial's sound best. I have Eclipse Soundource and the xover is mounted on the speaker. They match perfect with the Eclipse head units power. Ofcourse that's in the truck and Eclipse is discontinued but it's worth a search. If not maybe one of the other brands may have one at 15w min, if not 25w min would be the highest to look for. Alsp, you can replace the paper sub with a free air sub.

RF makes some nice sounding speakers i have the phase 3's in mine and the amp from them for it also, together your looking at maybe 800 all around for the component set for the front and back and the amp, also Zenclosures makes a solid box for the back, im not sure what kind of box you have but you can get up to 2 10's in there and still have a trunk since it fits under the bar in the back, its all about buget and effort your willing to put into it.
