06 non bose wiring issue-help please
I was pulling out several parts of the dash to repaint, and found some wire behind the stereo cut. The steering wheel audio control are inop and Finding this problem is what i figured I'd find. Also 4 plugin areas on back of hu and the tan colored one had nothing plugged into it. There is a plug that was folded back behind and not hooked up.One in pic that I am holding. It did have some of the same colored wires that are cut. On the white wire I am pretty sure it just needs to be put back together. But for the other three not sure if they were on a plug that has been cut out and possibly the plug that would have went in the tan colored plug on back of head unit or not. I figure a previous owner had a different hu in with a adapter for the wheel control and just did a **** job of removing it and left the next guy, me, hanging. Hope the pics If I can get them attached makes this ramble understandable. Hope to in the near furture make a upgrade my self but for the meantme would like to get stock unit w/ wheel control working with no wires hanging.Attachment 345972

Wow, no ideas? Let me ask this, is the steering wheel control interface with factory non-bosde hard wired in? If so which plug on back of unit does it plug into, maybe even wire colors starting from what would be passenger side to driverside. I see the stereo wiring info in several places but they don't seem to tell about the steering wheel controls. Still needing help please.
Well got it figured out. The 3 cut wires did go into the tan plug on the rear of the head unit. With a lot of searching found which three pins to use, made a harness/plug of sorts and now have steering wheel controls that work. Just a note for others, when you do a head unit upgrade if you cut as plug out, stick it in the old unit so you will have it to put back in with stock head unit when you get rid of the car, seems like a no brainer to me.
