Default What speakers to get with Pioneer HU?

Currently have a Pioneer AVH-P4400 installed and looking to replace the stock crap speakers with direct replacement aftermarket speakers. What kind of speakers do you guys recommend that would be a direct fit replacement for the stockers? JL Audio, Polk, Infinity?

I like the brands you mention. I’m running Focals (components) in the front and really like this speaker.

I have Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD and Infinity Kappa Perfects. Love them. I have them in door pods which further improved the sound quality but they were great before I put them in pods

What size did you get? Also, did you buy separate tweeters in combo with the door speakers?

They are component speakers and come with tweeters. For the price they are great but if you have the money, consider some focals

OP, it's really going to boil down to the preference of your ears. We can make recommendations all day long, but without you actually going to a store to test them, it's fruitless. Of the ones you've mentioned, they'll are good. I have always been biad toward Polk Audio (their DB or MM series) seems to reproduce music clarity exceptionally well while being very affordable. If you choose to upgrade your speakers, keep in mind that you'll have to remove the door panels, then purchase a set of speaker rings. The current OEM speakers trim (in some cases) cannot be used correctly to house a new speaker. The task isnt all that difficult...feel free to check out my recent rebuild.

Thanks, i've taken the door apart already so no issues there. I'll keep in mind that I'll need a new set of speaker rings. Thanks. What's the difference between the MM and DB? I am assuming the DB are the cheaper speakers? Are these the MM series you are talking about?

Here are the DB's They seem to be the cheaper one.

And the Infinity Kappas are pretty darn expensive, not sure I would want to spend that much on them since I'm not an audiophile, I just want a simple upgrade to my current speakers.

the DBs are Polk's mid-grade level where as the MMs are their top-grade. IMHO, the sound difference is negligible. One other factor you might want to consider is, tweeter size. The angle cups which comes with the DBs are too large to fit into the door sail panels so I had to mount them behind the cover. I'm sure if they were mounted outside or flush, the sound quality might be different.

^^ A good position (actually the best position) for tweeters is the A-Pillar.

The sail panel is not a good position for mounting your tweeters.

Bing (16psibrick) used to put tweeters in the kicks. Dunno if he still does that, but he said it sounded good. Might ask him about it, but I doubt it will make a difference if your just buying mid level speakers and powering them by the head unit.
