Default Subs and Amp Power

So I currently have a Viper d600.1 Mono amp powering two MTX Road Thunders in my Z. The amp pushes 400watts RMS to a two ohm load and they are both wired in parallel so I have 200watts RMS to each sub and it sounds good, but I'm coming down from my jeep which had 1000watts RMS each into two 12"s, so you can see that it doesn't feel anywhere near as loud. I'm curious as to how many watts some of you guys have going into dual 10"s and how it sounds? I'm considering a new amp and subs to get more power but I don't know how high I want to go, any advice on how more power sounds in the Z will be greatly appreciated!

What size box are they in, is it ported? Was your last box ported?
Theoretically your jeeps box should have been at least 15db louder than your current set up I think.

I've done it two different ways in my Z. Currently 400 watts to a single ten in an under strut box. Previously was 2 tens with 400 watts each. It could get loud and shake the car and the cars next to me, but it sounded like trash. Pulled up to a dutch bros one time and the girl in it said "there's nothing douchier than crappy sounding bass." She was my GF so it hit me and I quickly changed the setup and earned her approval along with some of the SQ oriented guys around here. While its fun seeing how hard your rear view mirror can vibrate, its just silly after awhile.

It's just a sealed Zenclosure under the strut bar for the two 10"s. My previous setup was the 12"s in a bandpass so it was obviously tons louder for multiple reasons haha. 400 watts just feels so tame to me now

I hope you have it stuffed with polyfill. I'm pretty sure the under strut box is only .75ft^3, which is what ONE of those subs is rated at needing. You might have better results with just one.

Damn, good call on the polyfill, it had completely slipped my mind. How much do you think I should stuff in there?

Rule of thumb is about 1/lb per ft^3, so I would say go get a 1lb bag and start stuff 3/4 of it in there. And by stuff I mean STUFF. Its going to feel really full.
