Looking to buy a Dual DVX3D Head Unit
Ive done extensive research on the right HU for me and I think ive finally found it. I was looking into some kenwoods, and pioneers, but wasn't finding what i was looking for. Finally stumbles accross the Dual DVX3D which is a brand ive never even heard of before. So is there a reason why i havent heard of this, is the sound absolute garbage or something? Is there some deep dark secrets i need to know before i buy this seemingly perfect unit? I havent found anything really wrong with it and for the price of around 280, im very close to commiting to the buy. Just thought i run it by you guys and see what u guys think. Or if anyone has had any experience with Dual, good or bad, please chime in!

Don't have personal experience with dual but I have been in the audio game for about 7 years and I've always known dual to be cheap. Just remember u always get what u pay for. I have been a pioneer guy my whole life because I have never been let down by pioneer. There is a strong possibility I may start looking at Clarion when Ireplace my stock double din in my Z but pioneer will prevail if clarion doesn't have anything I like. Good luck with your search!

Idk theres nothing really that shows me its a piece of junk. I want an auxillary port in the front, dont need gps or sirius. I just want a HU that sounds decent, i can plug my iphone in via usb, has a volume ****, doesnt look like it was made 100 years ago. I want it to work with the steering controls and rear view camera. So im guessing nobody has seen or heard the Dual DXV3D in action yet. Seems to my like the brand name hangs this terrible omen above its product. Even though it looks to have everything that the other high end units have that ive looked at...just someone tell me WHY its so bad!

I don't have the Dual, but I do have the Kenwood DDX-470, and previously a DDX-516 (upgraded for additional iPhone features). These are both well-reviewed and proven head units, used by more than a few guys here. Not sure why you're so resistant to buying a well-known brand for only $10 more. And, I'll tell you, plugging in your iPhone thru a front USB works, but not very well. With the Kenwood, you have an option of getting a dedicated iPhone cable for ~$25 extra (this is not just a USB to iPhone adapter cable, which is all the Dual offers). Use that and you'll have full control of the phone thru the touch screen on the head unit (iTunes, Pandora, Siri, etc.) or the bluetooth (not included on the Dual), as well as charging the phone whenever it's connected. If you want SiriusXM or GPS, you can add those apps to your phone, and again, control them thru the touch screen of the head unit. the Kenwood lighting can also be matched to the Z's interior lighting, while the Dual has only blue, whoch will surely look bad next to all the orange in the Z.
I don't know if the Dual is junk, or not, but the Kenwood surely isn't, and seemingly has a lot more going for it than just about any other unit I've seen for $300-400.

Thanks for the input guys, ive decided to deter away from the Dual unit, and turns out one of my coworkers also happens to work for Metra. He told me he can probably get a good deal for me so Ive been looking at the Alpine IVE-W530. Has pretty much everything I'll need and more. The front aux is a big decision maker for me like i said. And i know I'll need to buy the KCU-461IV cable, to connect my iphone to the unit displaying audio and video through the phone to the HU.
Has anyone had experience with this Alpine unit?

Front aux is useless once you have blue tooth
I dont like front aux because the cable gets in the way and it looks tacky. I just got the DDX470 as well and I like it because it has rear aux so I can put the cable where ever I want to. Im thinking of making it come out of the rear cup holder in case someone else wants to connect their phone.
But since the unit has bluetooth I never use it. It connects as soon as I get in my car, and I can see what song is playing and skip or go to previous track. Neither of which can be done with auxiliary port.
At $280 that CANT be beat! The radio has so many features. I paid $350 for mine but I got it on Crutchfield and it came with Bose compatible harness and mounting kit. I also like their customer service.

I had dual subs in an integra for a while, they were ok for the ricer/20 year old integra but they were no where near as crisp as others with pioneer and Kenwood subs. Head units I can't say but I wouldn't purchase a dual unit when I could buy another more respected brand for slightly more.
