Question about volume on Pioneer headunit
So I recently installed the Pioneer AVH-X3500BHS into my car.
I used the pac wiring harness, not the metra one since I have Bose.
Question is, the volume only goes up to 40, and even at 40 it's not very loud. I mean it's loud enough, but with my stock radio at 20 it sounded like this. And at 25-30 it basically blasted my ears out.
Did I wire it wrong? I did have a couple wires left over, maybe I wired the wrong type of speaker wires instead of the ones I was supposed to?
Any help would be appreciated.

I followed these directions:

And I used the first chart.
Should I have used the wiring for the bottom chart instead? The bottom chart has high level speaker wire and low level speaker wire. I don't know if I was supposed to use that instead.

Did you also wire the rear speakers? Are any of the wires on speakers switched?
I have the Metra harness and I used it with my Bose set up. I had the same issue as you did for a while and was unsure why it was like that. I had to put it to max to make it audible for highway driving.
I had two wires switched on the front speakers, and once I fixed it the volume was loud, now I leave it at mid ways on the freeway. I have absolutely no issues now and the entire system is louder now, including the sub.

I actually figured it out last night.
1. I am very stupid
2. It was worth it anyways.
Ok, reason volume wasn't very loud, I was playing music over bluetooth and my phone was set to only half vollume.... I increased the volume on my phone, and now volume 15 on my HU blasts my ears off
Secondly, I didn't figure this out until I took out the wiring harness and switched a few wires around. I used the Low power speaker wires for 4 of the speakers, instead of the normal.
Based on my ears, I think I like it better wired to the low power wires. It's kind of hard to explain the difference, but there is definitely one. I'll keep the speakers connected to the low power wires unless someone chimes in and tells me otherwise.
Also finally figured out my steering wheel controls after an hour, so all's good now.

Oooh nice glad you figured it out. My volume is always on max on my phone so my radio is usually set to 15 as well.
Before when I had 2 wires switched, I had it a few notches before max and it sounded terrible.
