Default 2008 350 Base - Can it be done?

As I'm thinking of future plans for the base 2008 350Z I have.

I have the headunit installed:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-P4100DVD.html

It does *not* have bluetooth installed, but from what I can tell it has the capability with an adapter kit:

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictu...&picture_id=-1

So first.. with that adapter I can add in hands free blue tooth for calls correct?

Ok.. so the next thought is.. What about buying the steering wheel controls from the higher models that have the volume buttons and other such to control mute, phone etc.

Simple question -- With that headunit, with the bluetooth kit installed,.. and I get the controls and add them to steering wheel.. I just want to know if it's possible to wire it up for the buttons to work with the Pioneer headunit,.. where the volume buttons work, track buttons work.. mute works, call button works (I don't know all the buttons.. but you get the idea).

Is it just a matter of the right wiring scheme?

That's all.. if it's possible I'll do the other research to figure out how to wire it all up, .. and down the road I may put in the Cruise switches and flash the ECU for the cruise button to work as well.

Or am I living in a pipe dream pie in the sky world.. ?

From the bits and pieces I've read people have done it , it seems.. but not so sure with this particular headunit. I can handle the wiring/electronics and searching the forums for any howto's.

Thanks for your time,

Why on earth would I replace my Pioneer :

?

Makes no sense. The kenwood is nice,.. but for $80 bucks I can add the bluetooth adapter to my pioneer and it has all the other capabilities of the Kenwood?

I'm not looking for a receiver.. I already have the Pioneer installed in my Z.

Actually, not. The newer BT allows you to connect more than just the calling features of your phone. I can BT connect my iPhone to the Kenwood and access iTunes, Pandora, SiriusXM, text messages, Siri, Nav, etc., all without hooking up any cables. The older BT only works for phone calls. Just depends on what you're looking for in terms of connectivity.

Well I'm on a super duper tight budget right now. Just sunk a grand into tires and alignment.. and turns out I need some aftermarket Camber/Toe adjustment kits to get the car "perfectly" in alignment. That is going to run me another $500.

Thing is I want to upgrade the Base speaker system. It has no sub,.. the speakers are bottom of the line clarions and sound about as bad as it gets.

My preferred budget is around $350. But, I know that's probably not doable unless I find some really good used deals online. So.. I can push the budget to $500.

I have some old MB-Quart coaxials that are 6 and 1/2 inch.. I hear you can use the stock speaker somehow to make a spacer and take one inch from the depth of the speaker you are mounting. 1" off a 2 1/2 inch depth .. 6.5" coaxial would put it at 1 and 1/2" depth, which should clear the Z windows just fine.

If I can do that, I have my front speakers. No, they don't have separate tweeters, they are coaxial MB Quarts.. but it would still be a vast improvement over factory.

I hear the factory grill over the door speakers REALLY makes them sound bad. Can't you modify or buy some aftermarket cheap grill to fit that allows the speaker to not be obstructed so much?

the MB Quart coaxials I have are 6.5" with .75" or 1" tweeters on them. They run 70 watts RMS a piece. With this amp:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_108R475...ence-475a.html

It's 75watt x 4. But bridging 2 channels gives 180watts.

I was thinking of going with this sub: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1368W1V...4805305&awdv=c

An 8" JL W1v2,.. rated at 150rms.. 180watts rms from that amp would be fine right?

And can that amp I linked run the other two channels in stereo at 70-75watts to run these 70watt RMS MB Quarts?

If so.. That's about $250 for the sub and amp,.. A box for an 8" sub would be $100 or less. So $350. And the rest is wiring/install.

What do you think a shop would charge to install that stuff?

I'm not excited about installing car stereo because of having to rip the car apart literally. So if it could be installed for like $100, I'd pay it. If install is like $200-$400.. then of course I'd just have to take my chances ripping the car apart.

but with what I described would that sound pretty decent?

(I"m after something that sounds like a Premium upgrade factory sound system.. like the Monsoon system in the Solstice (which has an 8" sub behind the passenger seat.) - And like at least 4 speakers in a small compartment. But it's factory.. that's the kind of sound I want. Clean sound.. sub to fill the lows, with tight punch.. but don't need to rattle the hatch or be heard a mile away.

Oh,.. and if I run a high end pair of coaxials in the front doors.. should I just unplug the rest of the factory speakers.. they aren't needed for "filler" are they?

I've been looking everywhere for advice on a budget build here... but just not getting any real advice so far.

I'll put the 8" sub in the glove box,.. I'll even go up to a 10" sub (not much price diff.) and put it in the glove box.. or even buy one of those under the rear sway bar Single 10" sub enclosures for the 350Z. I'm thinking that is going to sound the best for the lower end of the JL speakers instead of an 8" stuck in the glovebox.

I'm tempted to just go to some audio shop and just pick stuff out.. but I know it'd probably be like a grand at LEAST to get some front speakers , sub, amp, and box to fit in the Z from a retail store.

Ideas?

And the headunit, I'm gonnna keep it. It would be a shame to waste a really nice Pioneer CD/DVD player, MP3 Players, Divx Player, with USB port, Ipod Port, Satellite XM hooked up, basically everything but the Bluetooth adapter you can buy. Plus that pioneer has 4volt pre-outs, which is fairly decent so I read... as opposed to say 2volt.
