Default Sub woofer Alpine Type-R (stealth)

I want to remove the stock subwoofer and put my enclosure inside of it. I'm assuming from recent thread i won't be able to fit a 1Ft (tall) 1Ft 2inch (length) inside the stock area. (can someone confirm this) would rip it out myself and check, just been very cold past few days and wondering if you guys already have the info.

Also, was wondering if i could grab the RCA cable from the stock amplifier and wire it to my new amp. (yes i know i would need to splice this wire)

Furthermore, if the type r 10inch cant fit in the enclosure inside the stock location, how reliable is it mounting the type r in the stock subwoofer spot?

Thanks in advance.

won't even come close to being able to fit. I fit a sealed box for an 8" sub in there. The space is very odd shaped. You have to buy, or build custom to put a 10" in there. I'm not sure if anyone has put anything bigger in stock location, I think I just saw one of the vendors on this site offering a custom box and downfiring 13 though.

Search is your friend here.

Hit the "vendors" link up top, then scroll to the bottom to "wicked cas", and check out their stuff.

You can't fit a typical box inside. You need a custom-fit box. If you go this route, be sure to match the required space for the subwoofer to be happy.

You can't just mount a sub where the stock BOSE was unless you completely seal the interior of the space. The BOSE sub is an "open air" sub and was designed to be used without an actual enclosure. You can, however, find open air subs to fit in the stock location. Don't expect them to sound amazing, though.

Thanks for the info, I ended up going with 2 Type R under the strut bar in the back.

Just wanted to say that I put an alpine type-r in an enclosure inside the stock location and it doesn't sound bad and fits perfectly. However, If I didn't have a roadster I would've put it under the strut as well

What are the dimensions in the stock Bose space? The only dimensions for a box that fits that I've found on the forums is 18"X12.5"x6.5". I believe one or both of the TW3 boxes will fit in there. Either doing one of these or custom fiberglass.

Think about this carefully. If the smallest dimension of the box that's known to fit is 6.5". and both of the boxes you linked yo have their smallest dimension larger than 6.5", why do you think one of those would fit???

Well I forgot to mention in my post that a Basslink is known to fit as well and its dimensions are 14 1/2"X13 3/8"X9 7/8" or 14 1/2"X9 1/2"X15 3/16" if mounted vertically or horizontally and that 6.5" depth box had plenty of room.

Don't think so. I've spent a lot of time in that space, when I built the box in my car, and there's not "plenty of room" for a box 6.5" deep. In fact, it's quite a tight fit. The 14.5" width is OK, but the other dimensions are just too large. Post a pic of that Basslink installed. FYI, here's a pic of the 18 x 12.5 x 6.5" box installed:

If the dimension was larger front-to-back, you'd never get the trim panel/grill back on, and if the box was taller it wouldn't fit in the enclosure because the back of the space is much lower than the front. This is just about the largest regular-rectangular box that will fit. You could make a box with more volume, but the shape would have to be irregular.

Plenty of pics in this thread. I'm surprised you hadn't seen it.

https://my350z.com/forum/audio-build...ory-space.html

Infinity site has the dimensions at 14-1/2" x 12-1/2" x 8". Crutchfield measurements were the ones I posted above.

I hadn't seen that thread because that's not the sort of sub I was interested in. I'd double-check the actual dimensions before buying one.
