'Hard Wired'!!!
I feel 10 times better driving around now! My installer and I both agreed that running the cord up thru the top and down the A-Pillar makes for a 'cleaner' install.

Just hard wired mine yesterday too. Did you tap into the fuse box? I did. I wanted to do a clean install and went out searching for something to put into the fuse box rather than just shoving a wire in with the fuse. I finally found something and I am happy with it.

Well my interior map/vanity lights don’t work so when I was checking bulbs I figured out how the overhead console comes off. There is a nice place to tap into that harness (when I get mine working tomorrow) to hook up the Radar Detector with an inline fuse. This means less wire and less wire rattle going all the way down to the fuse box. I will do pics and procedure if anyone is interested.

I basically covered this previously, but............I have a Passport 8500 & new BEL Vector 985 because of their Best In CLass K & Ka detection! Sure the Valentine-1 has directional indicators, but I slow down PERIOD until I have no signal or visual for Police! I think it is safe to say that The Passport 8500, BEL 985 & V-1 are the best 'plug & play' detectors on the market. I paid $265 shipped for the 8500 almost 2 years ago and $236 shipped for the BEL 985. The V-1 is $400 and I just could not justify the extra cash for it does.

I'd like to tap into the fuse box...but I'm electrically challenged....
and afraid to start a fire.
Does anyone have a schematic or picture of how you did this?

hey marcus... still behind on me..
i got my v1 hardwired yesterday. it is run the same way as yours, but i have it on a circuit which is constant on once in ACC, and does not restart when the ignition is turned on.
btw, did you get your leather yet? when we gonna meet up again for some "posted speed" runs on the tollway?
