Default New Kenwood Head Unit - need help with parking brake wire

I've searched, but still asking the question.

Electronics are my weak link on DIY. As such, I installed the Kenwood DDX471HD H-U, and like a lot of other newbies, did not realize that I needed to hook up the parking brake wire.

So my questions are:

If I ground the wire, where should I ground it to (best locations), and will I get my functionality with the Kenwood.

Or, if I hook up to the hand brake, is there a DIY on this or DIY on removing the center console trim?

Thanks,
Bob

Just ground it out to metal. Kenwoods usually just bypass by grounding it out.

I attached a ring terminal to the ground wire and bolt it to the closest metal area.

I grounded mine to a big screw in the top of the dash just above the navigation screen (or what would be the cubby hole if you don't have factory nav).
