Trouble with 06 and Double din
I am having trouble wiring a Parrot Smart double din unit into my 2006. I bought an adapter wire from Scoche and matched up all the colours...
The unit isn't powering on... In the instruction manual it says to switch the Orange and the red wires should the unit not power on. I have done that (as you can see in the photo) and now the power button sort of flashes but the unit still doesn't power on.
Is there some sort of trick when doing this in a 350? Lol. I've done this in a golf, RSX, civic, accord...
I'm also not sure where the blue, light green, and pink wires go...
Manual says green is for parking brake video function... But where is the parking brake wire?
Does it matter if I get the two grounds mixed up...does each ground have to be attached to a specific black wire...? Both wires are unlabelled.

You really shouldn't be playing with wires unless you're 100% certain where they connect.
Nonetheless, check your grounds. You can put a ring terminal on them and fasten them under one of the screws behind the dash, as long as it screws into the chassis of the car. they can all ground to the same location, and in fact that's generally the best way to go. If you attach that green video wire to a ground, that will make your video work without having to engage the handbrake.

About the green parking brake wire, it depends on the radio. My Pioneer AVH-2300 doesn't allow you to simply ground the parking brake wire. *it knowwss* You can wire it to a switch or just simply wire it correctly to the parking brake wire.
OP, when diagnosing a problem like this, start by making sure your ground is solid like dcains mentioned.

As dcains and Joe state, it’s probably a bad ground preventing power going to your H/U.
If you have power from your IGN switched ACC wire, the only thing that would defeat this is a bad ground.

Okay, thanks a lot guys, I will rewire my ground to the screws at the back of the head unit chassis. It seems the Scosche ground doesn't actually connect to the Nissan ground.... silly Scosche.
also that "orange wire" is the illumination wire. if u connect that, when you turn your lights on at night the decks background lighting will automatically dim itself so the deck is not as bright at nighttime.

shhhhhhhiii...oooot.
All the wires are backwards...apparently. This Scosche harness is trash. I will have to re-run all the pins to properly match the Nissan wires.
The good news is the unit now turns on and works. The bad news is that all the speaker wires are wired incorrectly.
I need some brotherly help. I know there is a guy on this forum that has a write up but is there a labeled photograph for which Nissan wire is which? Or maybe you guys can please shine some light on this topic?

Just to give an update to all the guys helping me out, the problem is the Bose stereo which is proprietary, because "F everyone" - Bose Spokespeople
I will be running wire taps into the Bose speaker wires. I think that should solve it without me having to buy more ISO adapters or a ROEM-NIS2 kit.
Thanks all

Not a good idea. The impedance and frequency range of the Blose speakers isn't a match for any aftermarket amp. You'll need some new speakers to get decent sound, even if you only spend $60/pr, this is the way to go. The Blose stuff truly is all or nothing, not mix and match.

If you can trace them properly, you can use the existing speaker wires. You might even need to use the outer rings of the Blose door speakers as spacers for the replacement door speakers.
Okay. Update: I got the unit to work.
@compint. The unit + Bose wiring is a major headache. Here's what I tried to do at first: Bought a typical Metra harness like I have for every other car I've ever worked on. It didn't work. I then tried to research the wire leads and change the pin outs to match the wires. Many wasted hours. In the end I bought that Nis ROEM1 kit and that DIDN'T work either!
It turns out the f-ing Parrot wire up is unique meaning you have to rewire the amp power. So what I did was splice the Amp power cable (blue and white) into a Switching power source (red cable from the car) and now it works. HOWEVER. Not perfectly. Sound doesn't actually start coming from the unit when I turn it on. It only comes after I force feed Bluetooth call signal. I have NO idea why this is, but my car is in the shop for 2 weeks now and I'm not at liberty to investigate.
However, aside from the wiring issues, here are my first impressions:
Pros:
- Beautiful touch screen that is much more responsive than Alpine, or JVC, or anything out there
- Very useful Android interface means it's pretty and customizable
- Very intuitive controls and great ease of use
- Phone contact sync happens in seconds over Bluetooth
- The unit is capable of rear camera output, satellite radio, laptop debugging, and comes with a quality microphone with noise cancellation and a dedicated GPS receiver
- Tonnes of audio settings and equalizer options including bass boost, gain control....etc
- Parrot updates software on it regularly
Cons:
- Parrot isn't a sound company so unfortunately just plugging this thing in will NOT improve sound.... at all. I've gone thru all the settings, nothing improves the speakers. So the speakers have to go! I got Pioneer speakers chilling at home waiting for my car, hehe
- Screen doesn't get too bright so sometimes may be hard to see, esp with polarized sun glasses

Also, the 350z has one of the EASIEST brake interlock wires to tap into. Take the center console off, look for the small wire sheath going to the parking brake. In that sheath is 1 wire. Put a T-Tap on it, plug in your brake interlock cable from the stereo and you're done.
Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I'm not really okay with the idea of driving and watching a video either. You are endangering yourself and others. But I guess some people want their passengers to still be able to access multimedia or certain apps while you are driving like calculator or calender or whatever. (I don't know, just spitballing).
Also, I want to point out that this unit's parking brake tap wire will not bypass the system if you simply ground it. In fact, I have it grounded straight to my chassis and my apps won't work even in park, the unit will say "Inaccessible while not in park"

i have mine bypassed, easily done with a relay. you cant just ground the wire anymore, it has to have power to it from the switch from the ebrake.
i have never watched a video while driving, i have had a dvd of a concert playing with the video turned off. no responsible person would watch tv while driving....
