Metro Harness /Kenwood 471
Just finished wiring my Metro harness to the Kenwood one. I ended up cutting the RCA plugs off and connecting those wires to the Kenwood ones. I basically copied (dcains) Picture on pg 4 of Just ordered a Kenwood 470. Anyway, my question is, by running those wires directly to the speaker wires of the Kenwood, have I taken the sub out of the equation. I connected the Blue and White power wire, but wouldn't think there's any signal going to it. Yes??? And if so, what do I need to do to get it back in?
Thanks
Thanks
I had the same question and called Crutchfield support. He told me with the Bose system connect the RCA cables from the Metra harness to the front/rear pre-out jacks on back of the 471 (just to the right of the sub pre-out). This is assuming that you are JUST replacing the head unit and not speakers/sub.Tape off the bare speakers wires coming out of the 471 harness.
I was not crazy about cutting the ends off of perfectly good cables, and Crutchfield automatically sent me the correct harness and mounting kit when I ordered.
I'm sure at some point I will want to replace the stock speakers, but for right now was more interested in the HD radio and Bluetooth support on the new H/U
I also asked them about the "parking brake wire" He would not comment about not connecting that...

Hate to say it but I cut them all off. I put it back together last night and it seems to sound fine. The 471 seems to be assume!! But... now my Nav unit is dead!! I had pulled the neg battery terminal with the key on so the Nav door would stay open, and that's where it is. The button doesn't close it and the Nav doesn't come on. Looks like I'll be pulling the whole thing out again to see what's wrong.
I called them on two separate days and spoke to two different guys. they both told me the same thing. If replacing the stock Bose H/U just use the left/right pre-outs and tape off the bare speaker wires from the 471 harness INDIVIDUALLY.
