Dave… Remove the stock speaker and separate the OEM speaker from its mounting ring. Use this as your spacer.

If that does not provide enough room to mount your aftermarket speaker, go to the hardware store and get some hard rubber washers with the width you need for clearance. --Spike

Does it fit? A fitment report would be helpful. --Spike

Default HU Install. Dont feel like splicing this time!

I remember the first/last time I did a stereo install. It was a mess trying to cut and match up all the different wires. I had a constant fear that my dash was going to melt or explode.

Though I did install it successfully, this time around I would like to go the easy route and buy the harness or whatever that makes it all plug n play. Im afraid to press buy on anything because I know ill get the wrong one or something will be missing somehow..

What harness should I get? Looking for decent price..Preferably shipped from So California or somewhere close.

Car is 03 touring w/bose..non nav.
The HU im installing is a Double Din JVC KW-R900BT... it has bluetooth.
I will be installing an amp for my aftermarket door speakers and possibly another amp for a subwoofer.
(I felt I needed to add this info because Ive seen different 350z harnesses for "amp integration" and harnesses for "bluetooth and cell phone integration".. I got all confused and decided to write this post.)

I just installed one in mine about 2 weeks ago(also just installed all new speakers too). I have a 2004 Base. Worked flawlessly and I have never had a problem with Metra wiring harness's.

If you have Bose you need a different adapter is called pac-2 or something. If I was near the car I'd look, I will update later with the correct name if you don't find it first.

Thanks Mathew. I just pressed buy. 5 bucks shipped. Probably would have paid 15 bucks locally from a shop :]]

If you're replacing all the speakers/sub anyways it shouldn't matter.

I don't remember which harness adapter I got. I've used it on 4 different radios now.

Here is one time I wired it up.

And here is the last time for my current head unit.

The long lone wire is for the remote for the amps.

And here is a close up where you can see I put the parking brake bypass on the radio harness.

Thanks 92K...

What about this Parking Brake bypass?? Is that what that black piece is to the left in the last picture?

Also, your wiring harness looks different than the one I just bought:

And could anyone confirm I DON'T need to buy the PAC kit? I think I DO have the Bose upgrade, but since im installing new speaks, amps, and headunit, I don't need this, correct?

My harness is from back in like 09 so they've changed design since then.

The older JVC's you could just ground the parking brake wire and you could watch video while you're driving. The newer radios you have to apply ground twice to the parking brake wire to access video. So rather than actually having my parking brake set or putting a switch on the dash to flip and act as the parking brake I got the like $10-$15 bypass which automatically does the 2 ground signals every time you turn the radio on.

And yes, it's the little flat black thing in the last pic.

You should be fine with what you got as long as the plugs are the same.

Ahh ok, phew. I really dont feel like buying a PAC unit even though it looks like ill need it to retain my steering wheel controls, though I could be wrong..

The Double-din JVC HU I have doesnt have video so I dont have to worry about grounding the parking brake wire...it will just go wheres its supposed to go...

I have a tablet thats going to be installed in the cubby for video, nav, etc.. thats a whole nother thread though :]

The pics you posted look a bit confusing to me but im sure once I get behind my dash, it will all come together fine.. Thanks alot bud!

If your pulling out the amp and everything you should be fine with the adapter you bought. The pac one is the only way you would be able to safely turn on the amp. My problem when setting it up with out the harnesses was finding acc power and ground. I tried everyone and couldn't get the radio to even turn on. If you still want the steering wheel controls you will have to wire them into everything, I didn't bother with it cause I don't care for steering wheel controls. But you should be fine as long as you can figure out the wires ( if you cut the factory harness) if not it should be a walk in the park to plug the Metra to the factory and wire the Metra to the hu.

I don't have steering wheel controls so I can't help you there.
