Default Amp for Fronts Needed?

Looking to finally upgrade my front speakers. I am leaning towards JBL MS-62C since they have great reviews for their price range.

I currently have a sub and mono output amp with a Pioneer 7900BT. Should I get an amp for the front JBL MS-62C's? or would be headunit have enough power (22 RMS, 50 peak) for these 2-way components?

If I need an amp, does anyone have suggestions? I'm not too versed when it comes to car audio. I'm also assuming these components will fit using the stock 1'' spacer from the stock speakers...?

You definitely should add an external amp for your JBL MS-62C speakers. JBL MS series component speakers are designed specifically to perform best with high power amps.

Those jbl are awesome. I ditched my infinity kappa for them. They hit so good they almost render my 2 10 inch subs useless

I ditched my Kappas for the Reference 6030CS set... so much better, way smoother. And the tweeters fit in the stock location.

What size sub and how much power? In general I've found mids/tweets need about 1/3 to the power of the sub to blend in nicely. So 300 watt sub = 100 watts to highs. No matter what the head unit is rated for it most likely only puts out around 12-17 watts before massive distortion (+5%) kicks in.

As for amps I run Kicker these days, they come with a birth-sheet that indicates how power they actually make instead of some inflated marketing hype. I've got an IX 500.4 Class D sitting UNDER the rear passenger side storage compartment in the FL heat with no problems.
