Default Newer Navigation DVD Version?

Does anyone know if there is a new Nav DVD version out yet? The current version is 6.1.

I have the 6.2......180.00. My dealer lost the disc somehow and bought me a new disc. I don't know why it even came up missing.

Can the new NAV DVD be copied, I mean $180 for an update is a lot when you have to consider you will probably have upgrade again in 6 months.

1. If you can afford a $30k car, you can afford an $180 update

2. You're not required to update every 6 months, every year, or ever. You may be more inclined to update if there were lots of changes taking place in your area of the country.

I purchased my car on 8/31/02, one of the very first ones in Los Angeles, actually a day before they were even released on 9/1/02, so I paid 41K, which is 5k over sticker for my fully loaded track model. When I got the car they didn't know anything about how things would be in the future. Plus because it was one of the very first models sold I didn't have any choice as to what extras were on it. If I had had a choice I wouldn't have gotten the nissan nav, I would have bought an aftermarket one.

Furthermore, whether or not I can afford it:

1. If there is a way to save money I am all for it.
2. That's $180 that can go towards modifications instead.
3. Plus when I purchased the vehicle I was told that updates, when they were to come, would be free to anyone who already purchased a $3500 system especially because even though there is a sceen and dvd player it can't do anything but nav.
4. I don't think Nissan is hurting that much, the $180 is nothing to them.

But hey I am not one to decline gifts. And I assume you are on this site because you have a Z and according to your philosophy, I assume you can afford a $30k car so I would be happy to accept a $180 gift from you. I take cash, checks, visa, mastercard, amex, or discover.

The DVD in the Nav on my Acura is now a bit over 3 years old. The roads where I drive have changed enough that I will upgrade to the newest version. I don't see any reason to update any more than once every 2 or 3 years. The updated DVD for the Acura willl be $189 so Nissan isn't out of line asking $180.

dbsinc,

I don't follow your logic of how you went from paying > $40k to me giving you $180? If you were told by your dealer that there would be a free update, you should take that up with your dealer (and should have gotten it in writing). By your argument, you mights as well take whatever you want as every store and company can afford to lose a few $$$.

Not that it makes a difference, but I own a G35c and I decided not to get the factory nav as I knew I'd be getting the AVIC-N1 later on. I had to wait 4 months for my car, but it was worth it as it had the options I wanted.
