Default Help with reverse light wire in trunk

I was installing my new Kenwood DDX372 with a backup camera tonight into my 2008 Z and I tapped into the light green wire found the wire loom in the trunk as stated on other threads, however my camera won't switch on by itself. The settings are correct on the headunit for autoswitching.

When I turn on the car the back up camera comes on on it's own (which it shouldn't), but when I switch to reverse it doesn't. I can hold a button on the head unit and it will switch on manually though. I didn't feel like messing with it again tonight, but I saw a 2nd light green wire in the same loom. Should I try tapping into that wire instead? Is there one green wire for each reverse light? Or is there just something weird going on with my wire loom?

Test light is a good friend once you get into car electronics. Put a tester on the wire you tapped into. It should only have power when you switch to reverse. I tapped the wire going into the reverse light assembly itself. If you find that it is the correct wire that narrows the issue to the devices themselves

Out of all the different things in my tool box, that's one thing I'm missing. Guess I'll go try to pick one up tonight. Appreciate it!

Im sure youre tapped into the wrong wire.
Try the other one.

I tapped right into the reverse light. No issues for me .

Get a digital multimeter instead of a test light.

Same idea different ways. I have both but for something like this I never had issues using my test light.
