Help!how to Play reg. dvd thru stock nav screen and player?
I am not sure if this is even possible but does anyone know if there is some way to convert or modify the stock NAV and DVD player to play regular DVD's.
When I tried, the system just kept trying to connenct to to the satellite.
Maybe there is some sort of bypass or relay or something?
Also can someone post a link to the How-To for disabling the safety feature that prevents entering info into the NAV while the car is moving. I thought I saw that in one of these threads.
Thanks,

this is to allow you to input data while the car is moving.

Just had my car in the shop to have my stock Nav screen play DVDs. After months of research, I came to the conclusion that the easiest way to play DVDs on the stock Nav screen was to add an additional player. I added a Alpine 5205 DVD unit in the compartment behind the passenger head rest. Fit in perfectly. That was hooked up to an RGB Converter (Nav-TV) which converted the signal to the stock screen to NTSC which allows play of DVDs as well as DVD-Rs. I have two swithes under the driver side console to switch between stock NAV and Alpine. The second switch is the FM Modulator to provide sound to the Alpine (via FM channel 88.7) for audio.
I will post pics later, but all in all, I really wish I had not spent 2 Grand on the stock Nav option through Nissan because it would've cost that much to get aftermarket system with Nav and DVD playability option and we would all have a much better sounding system.

You can buy a dvd player and the Nav TV tuner from http://www.avelectronic.com
DVD $100-200
Nav TV Tuner $525
Installing this weekend myself on my stock Nav.

Cost me roughly $1500. Would've been cheaper if I went with a cheaper ($200) DVD player, but instead opted for the Alpine ($1000) because I wanted a high end DVD player without any hassles.
If you are thinking about doing this mod, I would say only do it if you spend a lot of time in your car stationary. It is a huge distraction while moving and I only switch it on when I'm sitting in the car waiting (which is like 10 minutes in a week). Believe me, this mod sounded really cool to me in the past, but once I got it done, I realized how pointless it was and I should've spent my money elsewhere (like a big screen TV for my house).
