Exclamation Help with audio

I purchased my Z stock radio and speakers... My question is ...
I want to upgrade the system and I have Alpine and Kenwood with DVD and Navigational in mind. Many people have told me that tampering with the car itself is very bad.. That I should have have installed it at the time I purchased it in the dealer. But come on they wanted to much! I am in need of help to see if its ok to do this and if those brands are OK second , what else do I need and what am I looking at Price. HELP.

Installing your own audio system and navigation is perfectly fine. Won't be a bit of a problem. Now if you bought the stock NAV and are hoping to do mods to it, then there's more of an issue there.

Other than that, rip everything out and replace it all. Alpine and Kenwood are fine. Alpine I think is more refined and I'm not too pleased with Kenwood long term reliability.

To each their own.

Prices... you'll need to be more specific. It could be pretty cheap with cheap parts and doing it yourself to expensive because of shop bought parts and shop install.

Is that $500 for each item or for speakers and amp?

Also, what are you thinking of replacing? some stuff? everything?

Check out this thread as well, as it has the information that you probably are interested in.
