Default Stereo issue

I have a 2006 350Z with a Bose stereo and I want to know if this original stereo can have a usb port added. I talked to our local Nissan dealer parts department and they didn't have a clue. Talk to car audio stores and all they want to do is sell a new system. Like the stereo but would like to play downloaded music versus cd's. Thanks for your help.

you could, there is a DIY on here somewhere, but for the time involved just replace it with a better unit

Best advice. Replace the head unit.

The OG Bose system is really primitive compared to today's head units.

car got a cassette player?
get a cassette adapter with the 3.5mm jack cord...
then- play music off your cell phone
(long as you have a cell phone with the hole for the jack)

or- if you really want to play downloaded music but not over your phone-
get one of those cheap MP3 players that has a 3.5mm jack hole and you are in business.

i have an 05 with bose and cassette player- and i use my cassette adapter that i've had since 1995

or- there are these things...

Some people like the original head unit just cause it looks cleaner.
I went to my local san and ash and they had all the hardware needed for it, under 15$

Nobody likes the original head unit... It is garbage, and belongs in the trash.
